So, I checked out the kids this morning. Poor miserable creatures on the verge of death. Until the time to go to school had passed. Then I was stuck with whirling dervishes whipping through the house screaming, knocking things over as they went. Concurrently knowing that I could have been having a pleasant time chatting with other women, watching the scenery through the Jordan Valley, eating Chinese food at a renowned restaurant on the Sea of Galilee, and who knows what lovely surprises for two days and a night away from it all for free.

The kitchen is a shambles after bored children spent the day creating deserts. This after I spent yesterday leaving everything clean, organized and shining in preparation for my two day trip that I ended up canceling.

One of the highlights of the day: H is perforating Ya's cookies with a fork out of boredom. "Stop it!" I say. She backs off, but from the other side of the table (wise child) asserts boldly, "I have a right to prick them with a fork a little bit!" With mock interest I ask, "Oh do you? Where is that written?" "It's ILLUSTRATED!" she sneers. At that point she wisely decided to play outdoors. At any rate I find myself thinking, "It's illustrated? Did she come up with that by herself on the spur of the moment?" S asserted many times that he thought she was smarter than him with his 150 IQ. Talking to her on the phone he said he felt he was speaking to an adult older than himself, not a (then)seven year old girl. That reminds me of my favorite book as a child, "The Boy Who Could Fly." How I loved Joey!

I believe that A and H will be attending school tomorrow. Ya maybe not, she is still miserable even if bored.
