H has a slight fever. She has been battling a headache and stomach ache, and I figure she has flu. I called in to say I'll miss group. It'll be good for her to just rest without the other kids around rough-housing.

Yesterday a large amount of chocolate milk was spilled on the computer table. That caused me to undertake a thorough cleaning of the table, computer, and all accouterments. Now every single wire is shiny and new looking. I suspected the computer might blow up when I turned it on, but "ta-da!," it seems to be okay. The older kids have experienced my mini-explosions over mentions of my il-logic, and kept their own counsel. The youngest ventured cautiously, as I was finishing up, "But, mom....electricity and water?" I assured him that he was correct to worry, that it's a horrible thing to do, and never to do it. Of course I disconnected everything first, and let it dry before plugging it in again. As I sprayed Windex on the computer screen, I cynically recalled reading just a few days ago never to use any such products around the computer, only a dry cloth and a vacuum. Bovine excrement. How many people do they think actually implement those instructions?

The next task (underway) is going through all the papers that were on, under and around the computer. I actually made two telephone calls I've been putting off for a long time as a result of this effort.
