Emmy Contenders - Reminder not Nominated Yet
Ed O'Neill, Chris Colfer nix Emmys bump to Best Comedy Actor

With Tony Shalhoub ("Monk") and Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") absent from this year's Best Comedy Actor contenders pool, Emmy experts wondered if last year's Supporting also-ran Chris Colfer ("Glee") and the snubbed Ed O'Neill ("Modern Family") would enter this race instead. However, Gold Derby has learned from the production company 20th Century Fox Television that the two men are submitting themselves once more as featured players.
Chris Colfer did contend in that race for the first season of "Glee." Since that loss last fall, he picked up the Golden Globe in the competitive catch-all supporting category, edging out, among others, Stonestreet. As his role on "Glee" has expanded this season, with more substantial storylines and screentime, Colfer could contend legitimately in lead alongside Matthew Morrison. However, he has demurred.
