While most artists are dying to be incorporated into the hit FOX show Glee, Justin Timberlake is not one of them.

The SexyBack singer said "no" to the show's producers when they asked if his songs could be used in a future episode, according to Us. Ouch!

Glee producers reportedly took this as a "slap in the face," a source tells the mag.

I hope this doesn't become another case of "Oh, they don't want to be on our show? They must be AWFUL people who HATE THE ARTS IN SCHOOLS!!! Blah Blah"

Give it a rest please.

to play devils advocate they may donate to art programs but no make a big publicize statement about it, cause if they'd did, people would just say they're trying to cover their image, doing it for publicity etc etc

Not saying they do, but it's possible they do and just don't make a big fuss over it. Honestly when Ryan says things like supporting the arts, I've always thought he simply meant encouraging things like music, glee clubs, and such in school. Like in my old high school we didn't have a glee club but the show inspired a bunch of kids to start on. I'm not sure how that worked out, I don't sing, and I was a senior at the time, but still. It's something.

Well, there is this: http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2010/11/ryan_murphy_glee_to_aid_new_yo.html
It's not specific about the arts program, but it's education and the LGBT community, the other big Glee flag.

*sigh* Amazing how any piece of news immediately turns into "RM sucks".

But I bet no one knows and/or realizes this and just thinks Ryan (and notice how it's ONLY Ryan who gets blamed for this?) is an uber Scooge

Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

What? We're supposed to expect RM to give up some of his profits? Isn't ideological support concrete enough?

why is everything laid at Ryan's feet anyway? Like he isn't the only one who controls glee or makes money off it. FOX, Brad, Ian, and all the other producers make bank on glee too. Why aren't any of them held responsible for where the profits go, why JUST Ryan?

Normally, I refer to RM et al by which I generally mean Ryan, Ian and Brad.

However, in this instance I specified Ryan, because he's the one who goes on and on about supporting the arts and the arts in schools and how artists who don't bow down to the so-called wonder that is Glee as being against arts. He and he alone has been championing this cause in every interview possible. So, he's the face and voice that I associate with this. Yet, I don't see the show really making a case for the arts in schools, other than that one bit of dialogue between Bryan Ryan and Sue.

Maybe if he'd write a cheque supporting arts in schools associations instead of attacking musicians who don't license their music to Glee, I'd maybe believe his indignation might, in fact, be real.

Also, I'm firmly convinced that RM is the biggest ass and ego of television and hasn't an iota of the talent to actually support his self-view.

Yeah, I know. That was my biggest problem with the thing he started with KOL. And barely any of the storyline actually has to due with their struggles for money or whatever anymore, plus any they do try to put in are made completely irrelevant by all the over the top performances.

EXACTLY. RIB make out as if Glee has this huge charitable acclaim or something when in fact it's simply a short term pop culture stint, get over yourself, it'll last 15t minutes. Also I HIGHLY DOUBT anything is donated to the arts programs they claim to support so much.
