Laura Bell Bundy is a more-than-casual fan of "Glee." Much more.
Now launching a country-music career after starring on Broadway in the musical "Legally Blonde," Bundy says she'd be devoted to FOX's hit Tuesday series anyway, but she has crossed paths professionally with many of the show's stars and guest stars.
"Matthew Morrison and I did 'Hairspray' together on Broadway," she tells Zap2it, "and I love him. We got to make out on stage for a year ... and he's a very good kisser! He actually was supposed to be in my 'Giddy On Up' video, playing my cowboy, but there were some contractual things he couldn't get out of to make it work. I'm just so thrilled for him and for Lea [Michele] and everyone."
And it doesn't stop there: "I know all the guest stars who have been on that show," adds Bundy, who was a stand-by for Kristin Chenoweth in "Wicked" and also worked with Idina Menzel in it. "Jonathan Groff also is a good friend. I've known him since before he ever did his first Broadway show and was doing catering. He'd just come off the bus, and we ended up rooming together for a week."
Now with her first country-award nomination -- for breakthrough video of the year for the energetic "Giddy On Up" in the CMT Music Awards, which will be handed out June 9 -- Bundy often keeps up with "Glee" by buying episodes from iTunes and watching them on airplanes.
"There's so much history we all have with each other within the Broadway community," she says, "we're very tight-knit and we are very supportive of one another. It's very exciting for me to see my friends having such success. Matt has a record deal now on the same label, so I'm like, 'We need to do a duet!'"
