Hello!
glee_gen_fest is a fic/art exchange dedicated to that rarest of creatures, the gen fic. Here's hoping you'll join us in creating some new fanworks centered around the many facets of life not directly related to romantic or sexual relationships.
The rules are straightforward subject to change and I'm definitely open to suggestions. But here is the gist of things. If you have a question about something not addressed here, feel free to get in touch either via PM or through the
comments/suggestions/questions post.
1. Your fic or art must be gen. This means that the focus of your story cannot be a romantic or sexual relationship. It can focus on a single character, it can focus on friendship between characters, it can focus on epic loathing between characters and it can even focus on unhealthy codependence between characters as they struggle to survive the zombie apocalypse if you so desire, but if you want to write about the true, pure love between Jacob Ben Israel and anyone else, you will want to find a different exchange.
2. All Glee characters are welcome, from that amazing girl-only Glee team at Nationals to Puck's sister and everyone in between.
3. All ratings are welcome.
4. All stories must be over 1000 words and beta read. Art must show a similar level of effort. The moderators reserve the right to ask creators to refine their work prior to posting if these standards are not met. Remember, you're creating a gift for someone to enjoy!
5. You must either join or watch the comm in order to participate. Any announcements will be posted to the comm rather than emailed to all authors, and you will not want to miss out on those.
6. Because this is a season of many exchanges, and we wouldn't wish to tread on Yuletide's toes, or keep you from participating in any other Secret Santa exchanges, the schedule for this fest is fairly relaxed. The timeline details the drop-out date and the check-in dates. Refusal to comply with the timeline will result in a pinch-hitter being given your assignment and you may be barred from future exchanges. If you think you'll have trouble meeting the deadline but still want to participate, please leave a comment at the suggestions post or contact me via PM. We'll try to work out a solution that lets you take part without stalling the fest.
September 30th: Sign-ups open.
October 14th: Sign-ups close.
October 17th: Assignments go out to all participants.
November 21st: Drop-out deadline. This is your last chance to drop out and still be allowed to participate in round 2.
November 21st-27th: Check-in week. You must send a draft of your work to
narie - details on how to do this will be provided closer to the date. It doesn't have to be beta read or polished at this point. Please note that if you fail to check in during this week and haven't contacted me in advance about it, your assignment will be given to a pinch hitter and you will not be able to participate again.
December 30th, 2011: - All fic and art due. Your story must be beta-read by this point.
January 6th, 2012: Posting begins. I am Spanish, and in Spain this is when we open our Christmas gifts, so there you go. :) Posting will continue until all fics have been posted.
7. Let's have fun with this! I love gen fic, and I'm really hoping this fest will be a good chance to create and/or enjoy something that people might not have considered before. All participants - creators, betas and readers - should treat each other with respect.
