My discussion on this is actually slightly different, but ties in with 3x11 so I'll place it in this thread!

What do you think about the proposal of Rachel & Finn, in terms of reality? (If you can actually do that?)

Funny enough, I could actually see Quinn/Finn together after high school - if you exclude the fact of it being an unhealthy relationship. Even if they had gone to college -- it was likely to be instate, potentially, and being married after isn't completely unrealistic. Especially with the story that Quinn made in 2x16.

But Rachel & Finn? With the move being New York, presumably? With Rachel's aspirations, her likeliness of putting her career and study ahead of a relationship - not intentionally, but NYADA is certainly going to have some late nights if she attempts to work on a production- and Finn's personality and potentially, struggling to adapt to a bigger city without home support?

I'm not saying that it wouldn't work -- hell, it could, but I can't help thinking that out of all the couples to be engaged at

Reality wise, the very fact that Rachel only hears Finn when he's singing proves it's a bad idea. She doesn't have the capability to be the strong shoulder to cry on or the comforter. Finn's lost, especially after getting the news about his father, and he's holding on to the one person who keeps telling him that as long as he has her, he'll be fine. Maybe it's just Rachel, maybe it's from not having friends for so long, maybe it's a product of having dads who think a glass of water and psychiatrist is a cure-all, but she has no idea how to really comfort people. Their mental states right now, it's way too easy for Rachel to inadvertently take advantage of Finn and mess him up even worse than he already is.

In terms of the show, it's a show about teenagers and usually, on tv, most of the couples in high school end up together forever.

Yeah, I think this an episode I'll end up watching twice. Once, for the pure performances, clothes, the dancing & singing aspect of it, and then again for actual storyline which could likely change my opinion of the overall episode.

I've found myself doing that a lot lately -- you almost have to separate the enjoyment of the performance (ie I Kissed A Girl where it was a fun performance, I loved the acting in it, and Girls Just Want To Have Gun where I apparently love Cory's lower register,) away from the context of the storyline in as they are offensive.

This is probably the first episode in a long while I am actually nervous about. But it's mostly from irrational hatred of Michael Jackson and some of the spoilers I have heard about Sebastian.

Do have I anything to worry about?

So....that could have been worse.

Not in my top ten by any merits, Darren Criss was uninspiried tonight, but considering how he's getting short-changed in the character devlopment department I don't blame him.

The performances where probably obejectively good, I just MATE MJ SO FREAKIN MUCH that I couldn't stand any of them. By thats my deal.

Rachel and Kurt where borth perfect, as usual. I am so glad that Rachel and Kurt both got into the finals.

It was really weird that high school students saw MJ as the kind of person he seemed to be in the 1980s, the most talented pop dancer since Elvis (and surpassing him by bounds) and seemingly a free spirit, maybe even a little otherworldly, a bit of the Peter Pan.

High school students today, if they remember much about him, are a lot closer in time to the bizarre plastic surgery, baby dangling, the child molestation allegations, the spendthrift recluse, the bankruptcy, all of the pathetic (as in pathos) side of his life. But not a mention of that, which was just odd.

I agree, but the same can be said of a lot of the songs they do and references they make (Fleetwood Mac, for instance).

It also just might the whole...."now that he's dead we are ignoring all the bad parts of his life and talking only about the good" perspective that EVERYONE has taken on since his death.

Overall, the music and singing was great for the most part. Dianna Agron absolutely blew it out of the water. Loved the interactions AND the singing for "Human Nature." I can't even remember what the opening song was, but Criss' voice and delivery just weren't doing it for me

The cellists made that Smooth Criminal scene. They had the anger and the hate and the tension that should have been evident in Santana and Sebastian. I wanted the camera on them the whole time.
