He wants to be a nurse.
Not a doctor. A nurse.
He is over-the-moon that he finally has a direction in life, one that he really, really believes in, so he's kind of surprised when he tells people and they look at him like he's weird.
"Dudes are doctors, dude," Puck says. "Only chicks are nurses. Why do you want a chick job?"
Even if they are less offensive about it, a lot of others have the same opinions, including some people Finn would never expect. Left and right, he is battered with people's rigid gender norms. They think he doesn't believe in himself. That he thinks he can't be a doctor.
They're wrong. It has nothing to do with confidence; Finn doesn't want to be the guy who tells people what's wrong with them and leaves them to get better. He wants to be the one who makes them better. Who helps them out of bed so they can use the bathroom, brings them food and medicine, does all the gross stuff that no one else wants to think about because it has to be done. He wants to be the one people call when they're in pain, or hungry, or when they're so sick of being sick they just need someone to yell at. He wants to help.
I just want a story about Finn fighting against gender norms and maybe even realizing how often he impresses his own gender norms on others.
