Re: FILL: I'm here, you're worth it, and I'm willing. Part 4b anonymous February 26 2012, 19:28:34 UTC
And I thought that Finn liked him. Because Dennis played football with the boys out back sometimes, and called Finn and Noah his ‘little buds’ which they both seemed to enjoy, but then Finn started getting quiet whenever he was around, and Noah started pulling him out of the room anytime Dennis would come in. But I still wasn’t suspicious, because I thought I’d loved him, and that he loved me and my family. And then one day I came home and I could hear Finn crying and Noah yelling and Dennis shouting right back. “

Carole wiped her eyes, and Burt held her hand tighter, trying to show his support. “Noah was yelling that… that Finn wasn’t stupid just because he dropped his glass of water and it broke, that Finn was smarter than stupid Dennis would ever be and that Dennis better just shut up before he hits him.”

“The scene I walked into, Burt. God, I can never forget. Finn was on the floor trying to pick up shards of glass, with his hands. His bare hands, Burt, and he was crying and his hands were bleeding, and Noah… Noah was on his toes, yelling in Dennis’ face and Dennis was looming over him, and he kept… faking? Like he was going to hit him and Noah’d shrink back, and then lunge back into his face. And Dennis, god the names he was calling the kids… stupid, idiots, useless, told them I’d have been better off if neither of them had ever been born.”

“God, Burt- and they told me later, that it had been going on for weeks. That Finn had broke one of Dennis’ old trophies that he’d brought over to show them, and Dennis had just gotten so mean. Noah had been protecting Finn for weeks. I stopped seeing him immediately, of course, and I made sure that he’d never actually laid a hand on them. But now it was set. Noah was Finn’s protector. It was bigger than a few kids picking on him at school; Noah wanted to protect Finn from everything. And he still does. I’d do anything for Noah, because I know he’d do anything for Finn.”
