“Of course you can stand.”
“Why’s the ground moving. You drugged my drink.”
“I’m not sure if I should be flattered or offended. You were in a car accident.”
“Oh.”
“Up you go.” Sebastian swung Kurt into a bridal carry and took him over to his waiting car.
“I think I’m gonna...”
Sebastian jumped out of the way just in time to avoid being hit. “Ew. Okay, hospital, now. You, keep talking. I’m pretty sure there’s something about you not falling asleep.”
“What do you want with Blaine?” Kurt said softly as they started on the road.
“He’s hot. I want the same thing you want with him. Except I’ll probably give him what he wants in return.”
“That’s not fair.”
“Oh, please. He’s hot. Don’t tell me that wasn’t the first thing you thought when you saw him.”
“It... it wasn’t.”
“Oh, really?”
“It wasn’t. Well, I didn’t even know if he was gay. And then. And then...”
“Keep talking.”
“I am. I can’t think.”
“Thinking is probably good. Keep what brains you have intact.”
“Stop it. I... What were we...?”
“What you thought of Blaine.”
“Oh. I didn’t know if he was gay. And when he was, he was, well, safe.”
“That’s pathetic.”
“Shut up.”
“I will. But you can’t. Why safe. And why is safe a good thing?”
“Because everything where I was wasn’t. And the guys I liked weren’t. And he was.”
“That almost made sense. Keep talking.”
“You’re not safe. And you’re trying to take him from me.”
“I’m hardly dangerous. Besides, I’ve seen your claws.”
“Ha. Wouldn’t stop dancing with him. Can I go to sleep now?”
“Don’t even think about it. Tell me more. Just that he’s safe? Never thought about his hot little ass?”
“Yeah. He does have a great ass.”
Sebastian fought down a smile.
“Wasn’t thinking about it at first. I just... he was nice to me. And he didn’t want to beat me up. And he got me coffee. And he likes Vogue. And politics... and music. And he sang Teenage Dream, which is such a stupid song, but it’s so... so...”
“Kurt, stay with me. We’re almost there.”
“I’m here.”
“What about Teenage Dream?”
“It’s so Blaine. He’s Katy Perry and Pink and a stupid drunk and he likes football and... he doesn’t know that guys like you are dangerous. But I love him so, so much, and we fit together. And don’t you dare try any of your fucking games again, Sebastian Smythe, or I will cut you.”
“Oooh, he swears!”
“Do I have to keep talking? I’m really, really tired.”
“We’re here. I’m going to carry you in. Stay awake until the doctor sees you. Tell me about Blaine’s ass again.”
“No.”
“Okay. Tell me about the sex you’ve had.” He dashed around the car after parking. He lifted Kurt up again with surprising ease, wincing in sympathy at the burns he could see developing on his hands.
“Haven’t had any. Blaine was talking about masturbation.”
“Oh?”
“No details.”
“Too bad.” They entered, and he ran as best he could to the triage station. “Nurse!”
“What happened?”
“He was in a car accident.”
“Sebastian?”
“Yes?”
“Thanks. I still don’t trust you as far as I can throw you, though.”
“You shouldn’t.”
“May the best man win.”
Sebastian looked at Kurt. The nurse clearing away the drying blood from the cut on his head. He shook his head and walked away. “He already has, Kurt. I never was going to win this one,” he murmured under his breath. “Doesn’t mean I’m not still going to play.”
