Merry Holidays!!!

Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Wrapping paper. It makes such a pleasing sound while it is being ripped. Besides, presents are fun to wrap.

Real tree or Artificial?
Artificial because of Barg's Allergies.

When do you put up the tree?
Whenever the kids' tree whining finally gets to me.

When do you take the tree down?
I like to have it through New Year's. Barg starts taking in down that afternoon. Last year it was earlier because of the trip. It's the other decorations that we have troubles with. The Chandelier decorations stayed up until late July.

Do you like eggnog?
Totally! It is just so bad for me. Eggnog Lattes, hot eggnog with whipped cream, eggnog with rum or without, eggnog chocolates...Eggnog yogurt however, is nasty. Sour eggnog just makes you think it has gone bad.

Favorite gift received as a child?
I remember getting my first record player. I was 4. It was one of those case models. It had a collage of big pink orange yellow and purple flowers all over it. It dies when I was about 14 yrs old.

Do you have a nativity scene?
Nope, I do Christmas because of the Fat man and the fact that my husband's job gives him that day off. I think celebrating on the solstice would be nice. Barg wants to set aside June 28th as Agnostic Gift Giving Day.

Hardest person to buy for?
My mother in law. She is so practical that she is almost impossible to buy for. Because she only asks for what she needs. Tis year, she doesn't need anything except a pair of gloves. I have my folks getting those. I am making her a photo calendar and buying her some hand painted reading glasses.

Easiest person to buy for?
My Mom. I find things that I know she would love all the time.

Mail or email Christmas cards?
Christmas cards? I love them so much, but I always feel so guilty that I almost never get mine out. I buy them, and sometimes I even write them out. A couple of years ago, I looked into a box leftover from the move (three years before) and found 40 Christmas card that I had signed, addressed and were just waiting to put pictures in.

Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
Well, the time my husband got me a clock for my desk at work because he was tired of me leaving late. He also bought me some tape cassette organizers because he was tired of that mess, and a shoe organizer because he was tired of that mess too. Not my favorite gifts. "Clean up your $#&%!!!!" is not my favorite Christmas theme.

Favorite Christmas Movie?
The Miracle on 34th Street, original and non-colorized.

When do you start shopping for Christmas?
At the Renaissance festival, then I usually take a break until I start to panic about two weeks before Christmas.

Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
Yes, but it was all planned ahead.

Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
Christmas Dinner is always different every year. I really love rosette cookies though.

Clear lights or colored on the tree?
Colored

Favorite Christmas song?
Traditionally, I would have to go with Carol of the Birds, and The Coventry Carol., Pat-a-Pan, and if done by a men's chorus, Masters in this Hall
Non-traditional, My True Love Gave to Me, Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer, The Hat I Got For Christmas is Too Big, Christmas From The Family.

Travel at Christmas or stay home?
What ever works out. I love it all.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, and Rudolph.

Angel on the tree top or a star?
We have a Father Christmas. One year I surprised Barg by making a foot tall Star Trek insignia
for the top of the tree out of tin foil, cardboard and paint.

Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
This is a big argument between my Mom and me. My Mom's family always opened presents on Christmas Eve. We did when I was a kid as well. However, we have been having so many people over on Christmas Eve that I really want to cut down on the amount of presents we exchange on Christmas Eve and open the rest after breakfast on Christmas Morning.

Most annoying thing about this time of year?
Crowded parking lots.

Favorite ornament theme or color?
My dragon ornaments.

Favorite for Christmas dinner?
No favorites, it is different every year. This year we are having a Beef Roast and Garlic Cheese Grits, a veggie of some sort, potatoes(because Barg hates grits and where would you put the gravy?), and something for dessert.

What do you want for Christmas this year?
Very little stress and lots of laughter. Of course, some books and board games and clothing and some new dishes would be nice.
