interesting tidbit about the business world #835:
in an office, a laugh has no real meaning. people throw laughs around like they're yesterday's britney spears records. it's customary to end pretty much every interaction you have with anyone in a polite chuckle, regardless of whether or not their joke, or silly one-liner, or "later alligator" was actually funny. it's creepy.
i realized that what i don't like about the business world is that it's so damn douchey like that. people just laugh at any joke anyone tells, just because laughing helps them to escape the miserable monotony of their jobs. it's like the "oh, ha-ha-ha, that was so funny! ha-ha!!" laughs are completely non-existent, and all that exists in their place is the "heh-heh, everyday i think about hanging myself with this phone cord, but then i just look across at your cubicle, and all those great dilbert and norberrry clippings you have posted on your walls, and it makes me think there's hope!" laugh. it's really disheartening. i feel like it robs people of their personalities, because it's as if we can't actually have real opinions about each other.
that's why i think sexual harassment should be totally allowed in the workplace. i also believe that women should absolutely have the unconditional right to react to any such skeeziness with a good, firm slap across the face of the offender. you know, sort of more like the way things work in the real world. that way, we could avoid all this "hope i don't step on anyone's toes!" bullshit and carry on like regular people.'
i'm gonna go grab someone's titties.
