gyorgi ligeti died today in vienna. for those who don't know, ligeti is a composer who rose to fame in the mid-20th century and was known for his experiments in microtonality and timbral relativity. it's really sad to me that he died this week, because just last week i made TWO posts about how i was really excited about just having obtained three recordings of ligeti's music from the library.

RIP, gyorgi....your hundred metronomes will tick in my heart forever.
