I am so stoked for the Heritage Festival. A few samplings of this year’s menu:

Borneo: Banana fritters- Bananas deep fried in batter and sprinkled with icing sugar.
Caribbean: Coconut drops- Coconut boiled in sugar.
Korea: Honey pancake- Korean style pancake with honey sauce.
Peru: Arroz con Leche- Peruvian rice pudding (Also: Inka Cola).
Turkey: Baklava and Turkish coffee- “Coffee prepared in a thousand year old style of bring incredibly fine ground and in small quantities being boiled slowly and teasingly.”
Venezuela: Quesillo- Caramel filled vanilla flan.

I have no idea why I’m on such a dessert kick tonight but that’s all I can think about. Also, it’s adorable that Canada’s menu consists of nothing but Nanaimo bars, butter tarts and poutine. Really? That’s what we’re known for? Good lord…
