Saint Louis Pride Weekend!
Just a little over a month until the Saint Louis Pride Festival and Pride Parade June 23-25, 2006! We are once again planning a weekend of fun and frivolity for everyone. This event is open to everyone and most things are relatively kid friendly. On the agenda for this year…..
Friday June 23 - We will head out for a bite of dinner for those that arrive earlier in the day. The we will have an evening of fun activities planned as everyone arrives at Sunset Lanes for Cosmic Bowling. Fursuits are welcome!
Saturday June 24 - Everyone gets to sleep in a bit and then we will stop by our fav Furry coffee shop Mokabe’s for a bite of breakfast and then off to the Festival for the afternoon. After the festival you have some time on your own for the zoo, parks, museums, whatever.
At 6pm we will all meet up for the Pride Potluck. Rules are as follows:
Bring something for yourself to throw on the grill
Bring a side dish to share (salad, casserole, etc) this should be enough for 4-5 people
Lemonade will be provided, bring your fav beverage if you want something different
Chips, cups, plates, plastic ware and napkins will be provided. Alcohol is ok to bring, please just keep yourself under control!
Sunday June 25 - Parade Day!!! - It’s an early start this morning. We will be getting up, grabbing a bite at Hardee’s for breakfast and then heading over to the staging area for the parade (we have to get there early to avoid road closure and avoid parking issues) The parade kicks off at 11am and will go till about 1pm. This is June, so plan on it being HOT! Make sure and bring yourself water bottles and such. We will have a large jug of water at the staging site and bottles of water at the Festival (end of the parade)
This year’s theme is Pride Without Prejudice. Both the Bad Dog Saloon and Cheap Trx are going with these themes. The Cheap TRX entry is going to have a western feel to it (Think Brokeback Mountain) and the Bad Dog Saloon will be a canine/lupine/vulpine themed entry. Everyone is encouraged to wear fursuits, ears, tails or whatever you are so inclined.
After the parade we will be heading to Chris’s for a bite of lunch and to cool down and relax before everyone heads out.
I need R.S.V.P.’s for the weekend as soon as possible so we can make the appropriate plans. We have VERY limited crash space, but I do have rooms available at the just remodeled Red Roof Inn that is right by the Big Blue House for $73 a night. If you are planning on marching or Fursuiting in the parade please let me know what you will be attired in so I can match you up with the respective group (we are going to be next to each other in the parade hopefully) Also if you are coming to the Potluck on Saturday night, please let me know what you are bringing to share so we don’t end up with 5 things all the same!
