All Roads Lead To Brampton

Voila, c'est lundi soir, je suis chez moi et je suis tellement fatiguee. Toujours fatiguee.

I've just returned from Sunny Glasgow. When I was coming home, I felt that I had gone away more often than I'd come home. Of course that's not possible but still. I woke up at 20 to 5 in the morning and could not get back to sleep. My hotel is haunted. My room wasn't, and I've never experienced anything there. Others have. Last night one of my friends was lying in her bed - awake- we are always awake yet always so tired! Anyway, she was lying there when the two cups in the bathroom flew off the counter and smashed to the floor. This is in room 601. I was in 627. Lots of strangeness happenes in the early 6's. Another time, a friend was in 604 and when she awoke one morning she found that all her groceries had been moved to the other side of the room. Quelle etrange. It's a living.

I've had a pretty good summer so far. At the beginning of the summer I took a tour of the Highlands, that was fun. I saw the native cows of Scotland. Hairy Cows. Pronounced "Heeyrie Koo". The Highlands of Scotland are really something to behold. I was fortunate enough to see Ben Nevis up close and personal, http://www.abdn.ac.uk/geology/undergrad-fieldtrips/ballachulish/images/Scenic/ben-nevis.jpg

Ben Nevis is the biggest mountain in the UK. I also walked around the three sisters, Hope, Charity and Faith. 3 other massive mountains. Of all the places I've been in my entire life (all 27 years of it!) The Highlands have definitely been the most awe inspiring/breathtaking. I also got to go to Loch Ness. Unfortunately I did not see Nessie. I saw a WHOLE LOT of Nessie 'memorabilia'.. and I bought some. http://www.sfnc.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tp/images/fullsize/kelpy1.jpg

Glasgow has a some great galleries and museums, notably the Kelvingrove. http://www.glasgowmuseums.com/venue/index.cfm?venueid=4 I spent an entire day in there and still didnt' see everything. It was raining - it's always raining in Scotland. When I stepped outside the rain had stopped and it wasn't so coool out anymore so I went to see the Botanic Gardens http://nickcgardner.co.uk/portfolio/portfoliojpegs/gbpool.jpg Who knew? They even have palm trees in Scotland!! After the gardens I went for a walk down some nature trails and came upon some awesome dogs swimming in the river. The Clyde in fact http://z.about.com/f/wiki/e/en/thumb/6/6e/Wfm_river_clyde.jpg/300px-Wfm_river_clyde.jpg

Glasgow is definitely one of my favourite cities in the UK and the nightlife is phenomenal. I'll leave that for another time however. But, Glasgow is home to King Tut's Wah Wah Hut http://www.kingtuts.co.uk/ Which as you may, or may not know, is where Oasis were discovered, among others. It's a brit rock/pop rite of passage. Glasgow is also home to Sub Club http://www.subclub.co.uk/ and so much more.. I've spent most of the Summer in Glasgow infact, as evidenced by my stunning tan!

During the heat wave however, I was in Cardiff - South Wales. That place is not equipped for a heat wave. I went on a guided tour of Cardiff Castle. http://www.castlewales.com/cardiff.html It was so hot that when I came upon this one room made entirely out of marble, I took it upon myself to remove my shirt and lie on the marble floor. Ahh sweet, cold marble. The Italians are on to something. Later on I picked up some fruit and cheese at the Cardiff Market and then had a little picnic in Bute Park http://www.megalithic.co.uk/a558/a312/gallery/PGallery/Landscapes/Wales/South_Wales/201_0029small.jpg next to the river... oh la dolce vita .

I also spent quite a bit of time in London http://www.geocities.com/patiwacko/london.jpg London is great. A hard city to love, and a hard city to make love you, but great. I've had some amazing times there, and I've had some pretty shit times there too. London has mostly been a shopping destination and a drinking destination. Och... drinking. I'm off the sauce these days, I'm trading in my hungover afternoons for early tourist mornings. Every now and then, sure have a few, have a good time but I'd prefer to wake up feeling quite decent and to head out and explore these cities I'm being paid to hang out in.

I'm off now until next Sunday when I go to Glasgow for the entire week. This time I plan to check out The People's Palace Museum and Winter Gardens. Basically a museum of social history. As well I will make my way to Edinburgh to check it out and meet my boyfriend's younger brother. Ah, my boyfriend...

Where does he fit into all this? He fits snugly into my $400 phone bills. I love him to bits, and I miss him like crazy when I'm away. Currently he's away until the 8th. He is in Squamish BC doing some rock climbing. Mount Slesse http://www.geocities.com/gibell.geo/image/86slesse1475_32descent.jpg and doing some mountain biking http://www.whistlerbike.com/index.htm Clearly the man does not love me for if he did he would tempt fate with such stupid things. Yet... he claims he does. Alas, I know he does. Oh to be in love.

So here I am, home and jetlagged ... reeking of Eau De Boeing, unable to sleep, listening to Hot Chip and Sondre Lerche, reminiscing about my summer with a BORING LJ entry and looking up recipes on http://www.foodnetwork.ca

I think I used to be cool.. some of my photos would indicate that I was likely a cool cat like... 1.5 years ago. What happened?

Isn't it fun to click links like back in the day? Yeah that's why I did it. OR, because I don't know how to load images onto this thing, so I did Google Image searches for all my links instead of using my own pics. I've been awake for just over... 30 hours.

Sorry so boring, it's more for me than you though ay.

xoxo Me.
