Holidailies Post 16 - More On Wrapping

Dec 24, 2008 19:19

Well, I just got back from some last minute shopping with Tuckey. More for Tuckey than for me, but we're back. I'm exhausted. Hip's pretty bad, so this will be short.

Luckily, all the stuff from Amazon made it, so that's a few presents wrapped already. There were a couple of items that didn't show up, but I wasn't really expecting them too. Amazon said I was to get a card to let the person know that their gift was on the way (hasn't made it here yet). By the way, if you decide to use Amazon's gift wrapping service... a word of warning. If it's not already in a (mostly) regular sized box, DON'T use the service. I've tried it once with some carded Star Wars figures. Instead of finding a box that was two inches larger than the card the figure was on (or even an inch larger), a box that was slightly too small was used. The figure was crammed into it and the top half of the card was bent and mutilated. So, consider yourself warned.

Luckily for me, considering the condition I'm in after our trip, neither Tuckey, nor Ma said they will be offended if their gifts aren't wrapped. So there it is. Plan and simple. Some of the items that were shipped adequately will be given as such, others will be kept in a box and handed out.

Simple times. Simple methods.

Speaking of simple times, I made some really wonderful Sichuan Pork and Cabbage last night. Even though it wasn't spicy at all like most Sichuan items (or at least the Americanized version that I've had in restaurants), but it ended up letting the pork shine through and the cabbage was cooked just enough to give it a wonderful texture. I'll probably post my recipe tomorrow. (Part of the secret I'm finding is to add corn starch to the meat first, and when it's ready to go into the heat, add a small about of water. Helps batter the meat, if you will.

So to all I wish dreams of sugar plum faeries, and your fondest wishes on the 'morrow.

And to all a good night.
