Interesting Find

I honestly don't recall how I ran across this. Some of you may remember me talking about a song called Teardrop by Massive Attack, and its use in the show House.

I ran across the video below and had to share it. It's not the same version that was used in that particular episode of House, but I like it much better. Throw in the fact that he talks about (and plays) one of my favorite songs, On My Way by Rusted Root, made it that much cooler. The guy's voice is incredible, and watching him play brought back a LOT of memories.

Back when I was playing guitar everyday, and hanging out at the Hippy House, I started working with a style similar to what you see this guy do. I didn't think of simply smacking the body of the guitar (mainly because it wasn't amped, and it wouldn't resonate as good), but I would strum without a pick and use the backs of my fingernails to smack the bottom side of the sounding hole. Throw in a nice, fast-paced rhythm guitar part, it was pretty cool. I began trying to come up with songs that utilized it, but after a couple hours of playing like that, my fingernails would be hurting really bad, if not bleeding a bit.

But enough about me. Hope you enjoy the video.
