I Mentioned the Dream About the Cave, Right?

Mar 26, 2008 00:21

Just making a very odd connection here. In the dream, we were told we couldn't go into the cave because there was a problem with the bats. That they were still in hibernation, even though it was warm enough for them to be up and about.

I had heard of this, but didn't put two and two together until tonight. There's a report on PBS right now, the McNeil Leher report I believe, talking about this. (Scratch that, it was Charlie Rose.)

Something keeps tickling the back of my mind that this scenario has happened before. Not really the exact same thing with the 'white nose' aspect of it, but something... I don't know.

Could I have been seeing HRG in the wrong light in the dream then? As I said in the initial post, I've not been in the cave that we were heading to IRL. Could the cave have been in New York? I don't know. I've never been to New York so I have no idea what the countryside looks like. And as bizarre as that sounds, karst land is very particular, and you learn to recognize it. I wonder if I were to see a picture of the mine shaft where one particular colony has been affected if it would look familiar?

Of course, I'm not going to be able to see a picture of it. They wouldn't reveal the location of the abandoned mine on the report I just saw. They don't want people knowing where it is and causing more problems. However, the fact that one of the reporters in the interview talked about seeing bats flying around the entrance to the shaft at the rate of one per minute is pretty startling. That far north, they should still be hibernating. Hell, there's a chance that some of the colonies around here are still hibernating. You could always get a better reading of the true coming of Spring from the bats than you could any groundhog.

Okay, that's enough babbling for now. Just hit me odd.
