I told a friend tonight that I'm begrudgingly aknowledging that prayers may have been answered.
I saw 5 apartments, today. Without going into comical details, 1 was decent and I was considering, 2 was okay but tiny, 3 was huge and antique but in disrepair, and 4... I didn't know a human heart could love an apartment so much so quickly.
Seriously, I could wet myself at any moment while thinking about it. It's an old mill building, on a street that looks like ritzy old Boston. It's in immaculate condition, original cabinetry and everything. 2 big bedrooms, big living room with lots of windows, a small 'secluded' dining area, HUGE kitchen, and a large shared deck. Even better, it's $200 less than the 1 bdrm I really liked last week. I faxed over an application, and I'm dropping off my fee check and getting my liscence photocopied tomorrow morning.
I got back from that on my lunchbreak, when I got called in to see the two owners. They told me they were thrilled with me in every way, and they gave me a $250 Christmas bonus. They insisted I earned it, and that not everyone was getting one, and not everyone was getting as much/time employed this year. They also tossed in another $50 in cash to help with my housing.
We had our office party, tonight. Deb called our prime rib "They cut the legs off a cow and slapped it on our plates". We did a balloon-popping for gifts game and Yankee swap.
Yankee swap, I ended up with a 4pack of John Grisham dvds... which a 'buddy' traded me after the game was concluded for a nice metal travel mug and a $15 certificate to DDs. It's a nice mug and $15 in quick breakfasts I didn't have before.
As to the balloon-for-gift game... I got a big shiny box with a $100 bill in it. When I thanked them, both owners said they were really glad -I- got it.
Deb told me that she was gonna have to make a spreadsheet to keep track of all the furniture/household stuff she's giving me.
A friggin' roller coaster is what it is.
I hope everyone who reads this can have a day like this for the Holidays.
