Not in a great place right now

I'm being anti-social again without MEANING to be, but the net effect to others is the same, regardless of intent.

I was unfriended by a person I friended back in 2001 when I got this LJ. Her writing was instrumental in getting me into slash with TPM, and she absolutely got me into SPN without even seeing the show.

For those out there wondering, I do read LJ nearly every day, and almost always without a filter. I keep up, but haven't participated in some time. I do care about you and read about you. If you are on DW but crosspost, I read those too.

I've unfriended and been unfriended many times over the years - it's part of online culture. It is what it is. I like twitter's concept of 'following' much better than FB's 'liking' or LJ's 'friending.' Not sure why this shook me up, probably just because I'm hanging on to basic social niceties by my toenails - enough to get through work, talk with teachers, and that's about it. If there was an award for "clinging to the edge" it would go to...well it would go to Obi-Wan in TPM, but I'd be a close second.

And really, it's just as well I don't walk around with a lightsaber or a sawed off.

[ETA - thanks to those who still have me on their card list, although I haven't sent any out in the past several years. I took them to work and they brightened the place up!]

In other news, here is an article with several clips of the implosion and a pic of the aftermath. Hard to believe that much building only makes that much rubble, although there is a one-story basement some of it fell into.

All asbestos and a lot of the limestone was removed prior to implosion. In fact they'd wanted to salvage the marble and terrazzo, but the morter and seals contained asbestos, too. Even the seals for the windows had asbestos. They salvaged what the could, and got LEED credits out the wazoo.

We'll get a park out of it for a couple of years until they are ready to build again, and maybe I can actually get some exercise by walking the trail they'll have.

P.S. supersekrit to @txcandyman @unpossiblyja - I know you guys are out there somewhere :-) Come back to the satire fold. Pleeeaaase :-)
