Oh no, not during the night, but this very morning as I was getting ready for work. From the bathroom, I heard a loud THUNK. I figured it was cat-related but tried not to think about it. In the kitchen, I was doing last-minute stuff and the first thing I noticed was Ben (the older, enormous cat) standing with his front feet in his water bowl by the refrigerator... Yes -- we have watercats.... splashing about. I scooted him away, filled the bowl with FRESH water (since he may have been making a statement about freshness), and used a towel to mop up the puddles.
A few minutes later I realized that the pink rose I'd cut for M yesterday, and which she'd arranged in a handblown bud vase on the kitchen table, was lying (still in said vase) on its side. By some lucky miracle the vase was not broken. I righted it, and wiped up a remarkably small puddle on the table... and THEN noticed that the vase no longer had ANY water, because there was a large LAKE of it under the table... and Mattie was still running around dementedly.
So... nothing was actually damaged. Perhaps I overreacted with my menu suggestions...
