She dies, revealing to Tear she loved her brother and his ideals, thus she was willing to die for him. Further in, they lose Luke to some kind of trap and Jade reminds them there will be a way to Luke further in and to keep moving. His words ring true as they find Luke, now in possession of both parts of the Key of Lorelei. As they progress, Luke stops for a moment, and then imparts that Asch has died. A fonic trap sets off underneath them and Natalia is too paralyzed to move.

Luke thankfully uses Asch's aide to create a second-order hyperresonance, removing the trap. Sync comments that can harm Van and demands they relinquish the Key and join Van or die. Luke refuses, and they again try to impeach Sync to join with them instead. The replica reveals he feels empty inside, and that as a defective replica he has no place in this world as he couldn't take the place of the original Fon Master Ion. He curses his birth and attacks.

He loses. Sync seems almost at peace, laughing softly that he'll finally be free of this cursed world and fades as his fonons separate.

Jade then takes a moment to assert his dominance and bitch-slap Natalia.

Well, more like, slapping her to make her realize she's not the only one suffering, and it's no excuse to stand around in a daze and get everyone killed. The final battle looms ever closer as they head further in, and everyone checks their resolve before ascending the final stair.

They share words with Van, and in the end; both sides determine the other will not change their mind, and the only answer is death. Van is a fierce opponent, so many times they came close to a final defeat. So strong was Van's resolve it seemed impossible to win as he rose again and again until at last... The Grand Fonic Hymn, this combined with Key of Lorelei and Luke's second-order hyperresonance awakes Lorelei, freeing it from Van, and at last putting an end to the villian.

Luke informs everyone he's staying behind to send Lorelei into the fon belt, and they all have their peace ands with him. Jade like everyone else reminds Luke he can't simply disappear, he has things to do and atone for, but he also remarks on just how much Luke has changed in the short time he's known the redhead, and hopes he'll come back.

Luke prepares the Key and everyone departs reluctantly as he does as he promised Lorelei. There's barely anything left of Eldrant after, and no trace of Luke nor Asch. Malkuth and Kimlasca conducts searches occasionally, and Guy joins them.

Jade also assists, as likely does everyone else periodically, but the Colonel has his own matters to attend to, not answering Anise's letters except rarely, his Fomicry research, which he is assisted with by Dist who is pardoned from prison by their mutual friend, Peony. There's also the matter of whether to reactivate the Planet Storm, and many other things to do.

However, the man does meet with everyone on Luke's birthday, two years since he disappeared from Auldrant. It's late and they're at the Tataroo Valley enjoying the selenias and eachother's company, musing on how foolish they are to have a celebration at Luke's grave for his coming of age in Baticul; they would never stop waiting for him to come back, just like he promised.

As they made to leave though, they turned back and saw a figure walking towards them from the edge of the cliffs. Tear asks why the man is here, but...who was the man?

He was just a redhead, who found the view of Hod nice from the area. He had some dear dear friends he wanted to see, and...he promised someone he'd be there.

It was perhaps one of the few moments Jade was truly happy. He didn't run toward the figure like everyone else, but he let the other man know in his own way he was happy the promise was kept; he smiled, genuinely.
