Asuka dragged me off to get a costume earlier, so that's all settled. [Pause, amp up the sarcasm.] Apparently.

[Look at the growing excited merriment in Aara's gaze. You're not going to say not to that, are you? She's not even being that shy about it for once. Okay, maybe just a little.]

[Oh dear god, that's enough to send Hito from deadpan to looking away and trying to hide his face with the side of his hand.]

Dancing? There's dancing at this party?

[He really needs to put up more of a fight when Asuka tries to drag him into things. Despite that, he's soldiering on with a mumbled reply.]

Sure. I guess, I mean... just one dance.

[Aara's beaming--completely. She's not even trying to suppress her smile.]

One dance is perfect! I can't wait to see you there.

So Asuka is going, too? Can I know what you two are dressing as? Or is it a surprise?

[Hito's still a little embarrassed by the earlier request, but he's rallying quickly.]

I don't promise to be that great, just to warn you. I don't go to a lot of parties...

Yeah, Asuka's coming. He's the one who talked me into it. Or... well... dragged me up to get a costume, which I guess counts for the same thing. I really have no idea what the costumes are, so you'll have to ask Asuka if he can explain them.

Pirates? I don't know the fashion or anything... Probably not pirates, though.

[He shrugs, at a loss and realizing he's rambling.]

I guess, do you mind if I ask what costume you're going as? Did you pick one yet?

I'll see if I can get him to tell me. If not, I will have to wait and see.

I do not know yet. But I have a friend who is helping me! She's really nice, and may sew my costume for me.

[Yep. She's totally referring to Alex as a girl.]

[He rubs the back of his neck, frowning slightly.]

Someone's making yours? Wish I could manage that... the most I can do is get the pre-made ones and re-size them a little...

Well, she is a very dear friend who helped me in a time of need. I did not wish to be a bother, but she assured me she had time to spare.

[And now Aara is mentally flailing a little, eyes wide as a blush steals across her cheeks.]
