fear is your only god on the radio...

For a while now, I've been quite a fan of last.fm. I remember graceless_me getting all obsessive about it when she first discovered it, and whilst friends like geek_gone_wrong expressed concern and even abhorrence about the lack of privacy all these Web 2.0 user content logs provided in reality, I quite like the fact I have my own personal music charts. Sure, its completely skewed towards music I don't own on wax - The New Pornographers have remained around the 380 mark on my charts ever since Mass Romantic and Electric Version arrived in the mail last year - it isn't complete inaccurate either. But the one thing ive always wondered about was how well it would go in playing my personal station. That's a "paid user" feature, and whilst you can do it on a monthly basis, I dont think I've ever been fussed to. Luckily, because they have added that thing where you can add your email contacts to your friends list thing that all of these sites have now, I added a whole bunch of new people, and nsomn1a, who i think is a girl who found me on msn once, but ill never be quite sure, added me and last night decided to listen to my personal radio. So using my super sleuthing skillz, I clicked to see what tracks had been laid down if you listen to Al's personal radio. And the results are quite awesome actually.

Out of 49 tracks, it gets broken down into

34 Indie/alternative/rock/punk
10 Hip-hop/electronica/dance music
5 Pop/Guilty pleasures
3 Songs I would skip
32 songs I would pump my fist in celebration if they were played...

So overall im quite impressed. Sure, less of the obscure stuff is in there, but its a artist/label contributed thing, so the smaller labels probably aren't in on it yet... under the cut is the playlist
