Im quite fond of that Grarls Barkley song, so its especially nice to see that now that they have shifted the chart rules over in the UK to allow dl's of songs a week before their solid state availabillity,
Grarls Barkley will go in at number 1. I think its kind of rough that they need to have a solid state release, meaning that half of my friends will never ever be able to chart, but the announcement that ARIA are to make a dl's chart from next week, with intergration a little later on in the year makes for a happy Al. I like charts and always have, and paid music downloads are just as rediculous as cd singles, so they should be monitored and tracked.
Canberra was good times. Friday involved seeing Hancock Basement rock the place, Peter K get scared of a spider, myself get scared of an immense line at the Holy Grail (probably about 400 deep) and not infact rep at the Los Capitanes cd launch, instead going and drinking till 11 at Toast, and then very gingerly joining Nicktimus for radio (which went very well, i even taped it :D). Post that, I went back to Toast, and then off home to the OC, where the Los Cap afterparty was meant to be winding up. No such luck, i ended up walking Chaunce's sister home along with two high emo kids at about 6, and got maybe 2 hours sleep.
Saw two movies on saturday - the wonderful Princess Bride, and the cheesey but way better than expected Ever After, which is Cinderella, played by Drew Barrymore (anjelica houston totally pwns as the evil step-mum).
Ug went well. Got way more people overall than I expected, given that PVD and Noisia were on elsewhere. Fine sets from Jem and Cam bookended mine, and with Radge having to go home early due to extreme innebriation, it was as though everything about Ug Beats was right and true. Even claims by Jem that he can give up drinking when Crowey gets back. Ug Beats - the home of post modern future decisions.
It was quite the tiring weekend.
From hurling off a balony outside a house that we were unwelcome by default at, to sparks flying, zapping when i met up with one of my friends on Friday night, there were extremes that only a trip to canberra can produce.
Last night was round 4 of the DJ poker comp, this time i dropped a furthur 5 places, but that may well have been due to the gay assed double shootout style they trialed for the 4 tables... basically, it allows those with a chip lead to play conservatively, therefore no real incentive to kill off those lower than them. I was too short stacked by the end however to really make a final table impact, regardless, I got my cash back and am damn well close to booking myself a spot on the final table at the end of the year :D
Tonight im going to go watch a movie at the Cremorne Orpheum, probably the 9:30 of Inside Man/Job/whatever its called, because the spectacular
Snakes On A Plane isnt out yet.
