staying, for now...

So, rather than creating an entirely new journal - I just totally re-vamped this one. Took quite a bit of tweaking, but I think I like it. I *think*.

Regarding moving:
I'm stressed about it. I wish there was a way to snap my fingers and put everything in the appropriate, labeled boxes and ship them off to Birmingham, and go there to a fully furnished, organized house. Unfortunately that isn't the case, and I've got to come back to Chattanooga for work in-between. On that note:

Regarding job searching:
It is not going well. I am so thankful that I can stay here with my parents for the time being until I do find something in Birmingham. You would think that out of seven NICUs, within 3 and a half months, something would open up. But no go - human resource offices seem to be on lockdown to new employees everywhere, including the medical field (or at least, within neonatal units and the whole children's hospital..) It is very frustrating, and I hope the problem gets resolved soon. Does not help that the city of Birmingham itself is nearing bankruptcy. Greeaat...

Regarding life, as it is here:
Going really well. Mark makes an excellent house husband, an excellent cook, an excellent "maid" - I haven't had to do any housework in seriously two months (except for when I've offered on my longer stretches off.) Also, we've both improved our culinary skills and eating habits - I made some really excellent taco soup last night, and we have chicken, roasted veggies, and fresh corn on the cob in our fridge, waiting to be eaten as well. We've found this really great walking trail close to our house (it's 4.5 miles!), and we're trying to go fairly often and walk that. We're doing an excellent job of clearing unnecessary things out of our house and lives - donated several bags of clothes/shoes to Goodwill, threw a bunch of stuff away, I have set aside a TON of stuff in the kitchen (and a lot of books as well) to store until we expand our living space a little... We've been quite productive. (getting called off of work quite a bit lately has helped that...)

Regarding what I'm REALLY excited about:
We're off to the lake in a week! I'm really looking forward to this: a week of total relaxation, no obligations or night shifts or expectations (except for making dinner one or two nights) or stress or anything at all :) I'm bringing a bunch of books, a bunch of sunscreen, a pair of sunglasses, some swimsuits, and I'm prepared to read, sleep, eat, ride in the boat, and float in the water for an entire week. It will be incredibly refreshing, and I can't wait. (Except for the very sad fact that Elissa won't be coming with us :( )

That's about all I have to update. Feedback on the new layout is appreciated!
