OMG WALL-O-TEXT'D! ;P

I don't know. I mean i've read on the overclockers uk site, on some gaming forums and such that the recent lcd monitors are pretty good for games. I mean i guess there will always be ghosting due to the technology, but as CRTs seem to be a bit blurry-er anyway isn't it like a stand-off?

I Dunno. As i said i'm gonna pick up a liyama 17" LCD monitor, and see how it goes. If it goes well, later on when the student grant/loan comes through, i'll pick up either 2x19" or a large widescreen. The problem i would have is graphic cards... I think i need to start looking more seriously into what graphics card to buy, and you my friend, are the graphics card... person. So... erm. Yes. Graphics. Advise.

Tell you something wierd. I was looking through my PCzones, and the CPU spec i have now, is three or so years old... i am scared because people have 4ghz chips in their computers. I'm like, 2.2ghz behind. If i got a decent graphics card, would the chip and stuff hold me up? I can sense that trying to get some decent gaming out of this PC is going to cost me a bomb. I guess the good thing about the large (and swoonish) LCD monitor, in the future, is i can slap the xbox 360 on it too. Now if only they'd get with the times and release a web-browser, and i'd be happy. (Wii is using an Opera Browser, PS3 is using a browser based on the PSP's one)

You take care and have a good one at work bro!

CRT's can be very crisp, I just think we need to adjust yours better to your sight.

As for your system, it's actually OK, because you have an Athlon 64 and a reasonable amount of RAM. Your graphics card, as ever, is your weak point. Though I still love the Geforce 4 and still think of it as an amazing card, given that the Geforce 8 is due out soon, you can tell it's getting on a bit. My strong recommendation is the Geforce 6600GT or any of the 6800 series graphics cards. There are cut down ones of the latter for quite good money now.

By the way, the 4GHz chips are Pentium 4's which don't have the same instructions per cycle ratio as the A64's. By that reckoning you're only 1.2GHz behind.
