Columbia Fieldtrip

Katie Rutland and I went to Columbia today and visited with Kirsten. We started by going to a great cafe that was run by siblings, very good and cheap. Then it was off to the state museum. This place is HUGE and lots of interactive fun. We did not have a lot of time so we did the speed version and Kirsten and I checked out a hot security guard the whole time.

Then Kirsten took us to the Capital building. I got it in my head that I wanted to see a politician, it was 5:30pm and we held little hope. There were about 7 protesters of the war out front and that made me happy. We looked at all the statues that surround the grounds then made our way up the main stairs. I felt like Rocky.

We found the public entrance and they stood outside while I flashed my best smile to the security guard. Well low and behold, he told us we could go sit in on the Senate session, no problem. Hell yeah!!!!! So we took our happy, unprofessionally dressed asses thru the hallowed halls of our state capital and sat in on fillerbuster from the Spartenburg senate representative about the state budget. Very exciting stuff. We left at recess and eyed all the pretty things some more, then had a little tour of the historic areas.

California Dreaming was dinner and sooooo good. I must say it was a great day, rain and all!
