Apparently, Thursday was "Kick a Ginger" day.
I was unaware of this, because I was away from the computer and also because nobody I encountered that day was foolhardy enough to kick me.
I sincerely hope none of my readership participated in or encountered any of the violence that took place on Thursday. I've had students tell me that I need to start taking a joke, but my feeling is that if you could replace the "Ginger" in "Kick a Ginger Day" with "Black guy" or "Jew," the joke wouldn't be nearly as funny.
A hate crime, no matter how stupid looking, is still a hate crime.
