Well, technically Sherlock Holmes as been argued to be the world's first super hero, but if we're only talking about people in tights...
BATMAN
For five reasons:
1- I grew up watching the Tim Burton movies and the Batman and Robin film, and despite how much they used to scare me, I love them. Batman Forever being my favorite.
2- He can kick ass without super powers. All he needs are gadgets, a dynamite car, and lots and lots of money. (He screws the rules, just like Seto Kaiba. lol)
3- Most importantly, he had the best villains. Riddler, Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow, and Penguin are my top five. Mr. Freeze would be in there too but... Arnold kind of ruined him for me. XD I have to say, I'm not sure who is the best Joker in my book- Nicolson or Ledger. They've both earned legendary status with this role! As for Riddler, I'm pretty territorial on who plays him because I'm very Jim Carrey-loyal when it comes to that character. He did such a perfect job with it! I mean really- "Don't... kill 'im! ...If you kill 'im, he won't learn nothin'!" However, I am very pleased that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was casted instead of Johnny Depp for the part in Batman 3. I honestly don't know who Levitt is or what he's been in (except Treasure Planet), but anyone is better than Johnny Depp, and I was scared that he was even considered for the movie. (Jack Sparrow was cool and Edward Scissorhands was cute, but other than that, I'm not terribly crazy about the guy. He's a great actor, but I guess I'm just sick of him being the focus of every movie he's in.) Anyway, back to BM!
4- Batman, in my opinion, had the most interesting backstory and is the only super hero that I've felt sorry for. The whole idea of him fighting crime in order to have some sense of avenging his parents' death is intriguing to me. He's got a lot of things messed up in his head because of his childhood, which does make him very similar to his antagonists. He's just on the other side of the playing field. And I like watching scenes between him and Alfred, because the butler did really become a father figure for Bruce. (And I mean come on, it's Alfred!)
5- 'Cause he's Batman, dammit.
Now, before I forget- because I don't think I'll have time to get on tomorrow- Alexia and I are taking a little trip around the state to visit a couple colleges. It's mostly for her benefit because she hasn't decided on a school yet. I'm going just to get out of the house for a couple days. I won't be back until Saturday, so unless I check in tomorrow morning, see y'all then!
