mixed up but there.

They decided to turn their world around, to runaway from this loser town, it was either escape or go insane, so they ran a thousand miles an hour through the rain. But the dark is always working overtime and we’re always seeking something that we don’t wanna’ find.
They were lying in the dark, face to face, she whispered, ‘I just held on and hoped you’d find that nowhere else you’d find my kind. I don’t put a smile on your face no more. I don’t feel your lips like the first kiss. Was I too crazy? Were we too close? Was I too open. I’d rather runaway than stay to face the truth, but remember this, no matter how long, no matter far, I will be there,’ then she fell asleep. He stared at her face, she always looked real fierce when she slept, like she expected to be attacked and taken back. Maybe she knew that they were getting closer, maybe he should’a told her, the silhouettes were getting closer, they bring you what you need but it’s never what you hope for.
They were just friends, occupying the same light, sometimes Brighton beach, sometimes half alive, they would watch the waves crashing in and out, and only the waves knew what they’d found, and somehow they were gonna make through, ‘I’ll break every single rule for you, I’ll try to, least anyway,’ that’s what he’d always say, ‘we’ll try to least anyway.’
They were spending their days translucent, in and out of everything, hanging out with strangers but that’s the way that it begins, they were staring at the sun, thinking it was the moon, a tiny indication it was gonna happen soon, but not like you’d expect, the silhouettes were getting closer, they bring you what you need but it’s never what you hope for. I guess by now he should’a told her.
He woke up before her. She had her back to him, he stared at the bones running down her spine, her neck was bruised, purple and blue, she looked dead, he filmed her with his super eight camera then went into the main room, opened the fridge and drank some freezing cold water from a long glass bottle.
He could hear her coughing as she woke, she whispered ‘stop running away’, then she fell back asleep. He walked to the balcony, they were on the tenth floor, he looked down onto Nowhere Road, he watched the people walking up and down, going left to right then turning back around. The forest was about seven miles away, he tried to ignore the tiny bright lights coming from the forest, he didn’t want to go back, not now. ‘Don’t look back, don’t look away,’ he whispered . He remembered the first thing she said to him that day in the forest, ‘there’s so many things you don’t wanna’ say, there’s so many things you don’t wanna do, but my way is your way so walk on through, open your world, into everything, you’ll forget who fixed you in a little while, but no matter how long, now matter how far, I will be there.’
We’re all searching, time’s unfolding, we’re trying to fill our lives with meaning, and still we’re learning how to breathe amongst all the pain and suffering. He stepped back into the apartment, walked to the bathroom and ran a bath.
He thought about the last thing she said the night before, before she fell asleep, then he thought about the silhouettes, he had sensed them there when he was on the balcony, walking among the people, but he looked away, he preferred things to stay a mystery. He doesn’t know when it started but it seems like he’s spent his whole life training himself not to want to know how things end. Maybe if he never knows how things end, then, nothing ends, and so for him, and for her, everything is still happening somewhere. Maybe everything they’ve ever seen and done are still happening, somewhere.
He stepped out of the bath, put on his panda costume, picked up his trumpet, and left.
She woke up, she was reaching out to touch him, she was struggling to breathe, as he felt her she fell into her dreams.
