Chapter 2: The Prince Charming

“Oh my God”

“That is ugly”

“My eyes, they hurt so much. Fairy godmother, please save me.”

Jaejoong pouted, crossing his arms. “Hey now. That’s my home you’re bad mouthing.”

The three fairies flew in front of his face and crossed their arms, stronger pouts decorating their faces.

“Why is your house gray?” Sun-nie snapped, pointing at random directions in Jaejoong’s living room.

“And that ugly little black lamp.” Almira shivered, hugging her body.

“I love black,” Ceci blurted out. She flew closer to Jaejoong’s face and narrowed her eyes. “But don’t get me wrong. Too much black is ugly. I need purple and pink and sheep.”

“Hm! Hm!” The two other fairies nodded in agreement, glitter falling from their heads.

“Fine, if you don’t like it, redecorate it.”

Before Jaejoong realized what he said, light spread across his house. He watched as the walls’ colors turned from dark gray to a mixture of white and light blue. His black couch transforming into a bright color, with different ranges of blue colored cushions sprawled on top of it. The carpet and the curtains changed as well to a matching color and in less than a minute, his living room was bright and unexpectedly warm.

“Wow!”

The rest of the apartment received the same treatment, turning from dark colors of gray and black into light blue, green and white.

The three fairies flew in front of him again, wide smiles beaming at him. “Tadaaaa” Almira spread her hands in pride.

“I.. thanks girls. That’s really beautiful.”

Ceci giggled. “All we need now is a couple of cute sheep.”

“S-sheep?” Jaejoong stuttered.

“Ignore her,” Sun-nie flicked her bangs. “Now, where do we sleep?” she asked.

“Mmmm,” Jaejoong turned around, trying to figure out a place for the fairies to sleep in. “On the couch? Make beds of cushions?”

Sun-nie rolled her eyes. “You need to buy us a house.”

“Oh oh oh!!! You can you use magic to build one, right?”

Sighs were the only response he got.

“We can’t build our own house. We can’t use magic to get whatever we want, it’s the law from the fairy land. You have to build or buy us one.” Almira stated, head nodding with every word she spoke.

“Oh!” Jaejoong scratched his head and tried to think. “I can’t build anything. I can buy you one, but I don’t know where.”

Almira giggled. “I know a place that sells good houses.” She clasped her hands in front of her face. “Please?”

Three sets of sparkly puppy eyes stared at Jaejoong. He blinked as the glow in their eyes intensified with every flutter of their eyelashes.

“Ok, let’s go.”

How could he ever say no to that?

“Barbie houses? Really?”

Ignoring the mocking tone of the man, the three fairies flew from one house on the display to another, examining each interior.

“It’s so pink.” Sun-nie squealed, throwing herself on one of the small beds inside the house. “I love this one. I want it.”

Jaejoong found himself giggling as the three fairies settled inside one particular house. He inspected it from the outside and decided that it was indeed the most beautiful out of the four on the display. Taking a step back, Jaejoong yelped when he bumped into someone.

“I’m so sorry!” He quickly apologized.

“It’s ok.” The man smiled kindly at him. “I just wanted to see the Barbie houses.”

“Me too.” Jaejoong replied.

“For your daughter?” the man asked, inspecting the house the fairies were inside.

Jaejoong panicked, afraid that the man would see his little friends. “Mmm, no, it’s for my… niece.”

Sun-nie flew in front of the man’s face and stared at him with an intense gaze. Widening his eyes, Jaejoong waved for her to hide, but she just stuck her tongue to him.

“He can’t see us, relax.” Ceci whispered to him.

“Oh is it for her birthday?”

“Mmm, no I just decided to buy her something nice.”

The man turned and threw a bright smile at Jaejoong’s direction. Jaejoong froze, heart stopping in his chest, eyes blinking and staring at the man.

Beautiful, that was everything he could think of to describe the man’s smile.

“You must love her so much. I’m actually looking for something to buy for my niece as well, for her birthday.”

Jaejoong felt a nudge on his nose only to realize it was Sun-nie’s wand poking him. He cleared his throat. “This house is everything my niece dreamed of, so I’m getting it for her.”

The happy squeals of the three fairies forced Jaejoong to giggle.

“Why are you laughing?” The man asked Jaejoong with a small laugh.

“Oh!” Jaejoong cleared his throat again, smile still plastered on his face. “I’m just imagining her reaction.”

“What’s her name?”

Jaejoong opened his mouth before closing it. “Aaaaa…” He tried to think of a name, any name. “Almira!” He exclaimed, the fairy giggled.

“Is it her English name? It sounds so pretty”.” The man replied. “My niece doesn’t have one,” He chuckled and Jaejoong’s heart did a back flip.

“Ask him about her name.”

Jaejoong rubbed his ear, trying to get rid of Ceci whispering to him. “What’s her name?”

“Han So Ran.” The man’s smile widened, his eyes twinkling.

Jaejoong thought only fairies had twinkling eyes, he was definitely mistaken. “That’s a cute name.”

“Introduce yourself”

Smiling awkwardly, Jaejoong hushed Almira from his other ear.

“Why are you like this? Kim. Jaejoong. Why is it so hard to say it?”

Jaejoong’s smile grew firmer, his hand waving in the air again to stop Sun-nie from talking any further.

“Just say your name, gosh.”

“Kim Jaejoong.” He exclaimed, hand rising in the air. “I mean…”

The other man stared at him for a few seconds before that shining smile was back. “Jung Yunho.” He took Jaejoong’s hand in his. “Nice to meet you.”

“So cute.” Almira giggled.

“Guess I will buy this house then.”

“Yeah, me too.”

The three fairies suddenly appeared in front of his face with pouts decorating all their faces.

“His number” Almira poked his cheek.

“Ask for his number,” Sun-nie waved her wand in front of his face.

“Oh my God what are you waiting for?” Ceci kicked his nose.

Jaejoong forced a growl down his throat and just waved the three fairies away from his face.

“Thank you for your help, Jaejoong-shi. Hope we’ll meet again.” Yunho bowed.

“Dear godmother, ask him for his number,” Sun-nie hissed.

Jaejoong ignored her, sweat already dripping down his forehead. “The pleasure is mine. Hope she will like it.”

“No no no!” Almira exclaimed. “Don’t leave.” She flew behind Yunho’s retreating back. “Do something!” She shouted in Jaejoong’s direction.

“He’s gone,” Ceci crossed her arms and jutted her lips in an intense pout.

Jaejoong breathed a long sigh of relief, back hitting the shelves as his hand flew to catch his beating heart. “I thought I would die.”

“Why didn’t you ask him out?” Sun-nie asked in bewilderment.

Staring at her in disbelief, Jaejoong shook his head. “It’s weird ok?”

“The weird thing is you,” Ceci huffed, clutching her sheep plushy tightly. She looked at the other two fairies and narrowed her eyes. “Can I poison him now, please?”

“WHAT?” Jaejoong retorted in fear. “Why would you poison me.”

It was Almira who replied to him and her reply wasn’t even related to his question. She flew in front of his face and fluttered her eyelashes, brown eyes sparkling. “Didn’t you see his smile?”

Jaejoong’s heart sped up as the other’s smile appeared in front of his face. “Well,” He breathed.

“Even his eyes were sparkling.” Sun-nie sighed, before bursting into a glittering fit of giggles.

“Can you just…” Jaejoong waved them away from his face. “Let’s buy this house and go home.”

The three fairies smiled in content happiness, and watched in silence as Jaejoong took a new box of the house they picked and walked towards the cashier.

“Did you hear what he said?” Almira asked, arm sneaking into Sun-nie’s.

“Hm,” Ceci nodded.

Sun-nie tugged Almira’s hand, urging her to fly closer to Jaejoong. “Home.” She said in a faint voice.

Their bodies glowed as a feeling of belonging settled in their small hearts.

Living with fairies was exactly like living with his sisters. A week had passed since the three little fairies settled in their home. They had turned the beds and kitchen inside the Barbie house into real ones. ‘Since it’s ours, we can use magic to make it better’

They controlled the way he dressed, the food he ate and even the way he styled his hair. Jaejoong was annoyed at first, until he saw the results. His health had gotten better and his skin was glowing from the healthy food they forced him to eat, and his hair was silky and shiny. His coworkers praised his new style and several girls asked him out whom he declined gently.

“I love your shirt,” Sun-nie said, licking a small lollipop she got from Ceci’s bag.

“You picked this shirt.” Jaejoong snorted.

“I know, that’s why I love it” She giggled.

Unable to hold it in, Jaejoong chuckled, blowing air in Sun-nie’s face.

“Hey!” the little fairy protested. “You’ll ruin my hair.”

“Everything except the hair,” Almira warned, sitting on Jaejoong’s shoulder.

“Hm hm,” Ceci hummed in agreement, purple hair waving with every nod of her head.

Jaejoong let out a laugh. “Fine, fine. Sorry!”

By the time Jaejoong reached the park, the three fairies found comfort on his body. Sun-nie had rested on his head, saying that his hair was better than any carpet she had ever sat on, while Almira and Ceci rested on his shoulders. The weather was fine and breezy with a little warmth coming from the sunlight. The flowers were opened and inviting and the fairies didn’t wait for Jaejoong’s permission before they were flying from one flower to the other.

Jaejoong sat on a bench, watching his three little friends play happily, using their magical dust to help flower blossom.

“Jaejoong-shi, right?”

Turning his head, Jaejoong’s heart stopped for a second upon seeing the other man standing in front of him.

“Yes, hi, Yunho-shi right? Barbie house!”

The man laughed, nodding his head and offering his hand for Jaejoong, who shook it in delight. “Yes, that’s me.”

“Yes, mmm, how are you?”

“I’m, good. Just walking the dog.”

Just when Jaejoong was about to reply with something nice and polite, he was attacked by pokes and little kicks.

“Oh my God, it’s fate.” Almira shouted in his ears.

“Ask him out, ask him out,” Ceci hit his head with her sheep plushy.

“Kiss him, kiss him, kiss him”

“Ahahahaha,” An awkward laugh escaped Jaejoong’s lips. The look of confusion on Yunho’s face made him clear his throat. “I just, ermm, remembered something.”

“That always happens to me. And it’s always awkward.” He laughed, white teeth blinding Jaejoong’s eyes.

“Oh god, his smile. Jaejoong, do something.” Sun-nie, hit Jaejoong’s head with her pink wand, pink glitter falling on his hair.

“It is really awkward. Sorry!”

“Oh please, don’t apology… oh”

Yunho’s words were cut off as his dog suddenly started barking at Jaejoong and bouncing on the ground.

“Easy taepoong.” Yunho tugged on the lash.

“He can see us.” Ceci pouted, tightly clutching her sheep plushy.

“I’m sorry about that.” Apologizing, Yunho dropped on his knees, patting the dog’s soft fur. “It’s okay, Jaejoong is a nice guy.”

“Hello Taepoong,” Jaejoong smiled, running his hand over the dog’s back.

The dog barked.

“Maybe he’s not feeling well,” Yunho commented, features turning gloomy. “I should probably take him home.”

“The dog!” The fairy with the black dress said darkly, flying closer to the dog. She dug her hand in her small purse and retrieved a red ball of cotton candy.

Jaejoong watched with concerned eyes as Ceci flied with a smirk and an evil laugh towards the dog.

“Hey doggy doggy, wanna eat some yummy cotton candy?”

The dog barked more. “What’s wrong?” Yunho patted his back, eyebrow creasing.

The fit of giggles that Almira let out were followed by a yelp from Sun-nie. The latter’s pink wings took her towards Ceci and she pulled her back by her black dress.

“No, you can’t poison the dog.”

Jaejoong’s alarms went off, eyes widening as he realized what that little red cotton candy was. How could a fairy poison a dog? Wasn’t it illegal? Just when Jaejoong started to panic at the close proximity between Ceci, the poisoned cotton candy and the dog, Almira poked his nose.

“Just ask Yunho out and she will stop.”

“Is your place close?” Jaejoong hurriedly asked, eyes glancing down at the two fairies inching closer to the dog.

“Yeah, it’s right across the street,”

Ceci stared up at Jaejoong, arms stretching and inching the poisoned cotton candy closer to the dog’s mouth; while Sun-nie was trying to pull her away but failing miserably.

“Mmmm,” Jaejoong bit his lips.

“Why is it so hard to say let’s go eat cupcake together?” The fairy with the white dress sighed, poking his nose again.

“How about some cupcake?” Jaejoong mentally slapped himself at the lame question. Almira however, rolled on his shoulder giggling nonstop.

“Cupcake?” Yunho chuckled, getting on his feet.

“I mean,” Jaejoong stuttered. “Coffee and… cupcake?” He said after a small pause.

“I could eat something sweet,” Yunho said, tugging the dog closer to him.

Jaejoong let out a sigh of relief when Ceci pouted but stuffed the red ball of cotton candy back in her purse.

“Was asking him that hard?” Sun-nie puffed her cheeks, settling on Jaejoong’s hair once again. “Seriously do we have to kill a dog for you to have some balls?”

A gasp from Almira got their attention. “Oh my God, dirty words.” She covered her mouth and blushed.

“Right, the innocent fairy.” Jaejoong blurted out loudly, forgetting that he wasn’t alone with the three fairies.

“What?” Yunho asked, blinking his eyes in confusion.

“I mean… My niece! She wants to be the innocent fairy.”

Yunho laughed, his eyes twinkling again, Jaejoong felt mesmerized once again. “That’s cute.”

“Taepoong looks good now.” Jaejoong said, ignoring any remarks from the three fairies around him.

“He’s a good boy.”

Jaejoong smiled as he walked by Yunho’s side. They crossed the street and true to Yunho’s words, his apartment was close. They dropped the dog inside his apartment before going out again into a café Yunho knew serves good cupcake, swear to his niece’s life.

“So, Jaejoong-shi, can I consider this a date?”

A squeal reached Jaejoong’s ears before his heart raced in response to the words. He turned to look at Yunho and found him smiling kindly at him, that smile that he had fallen for the second his eyes landed on him.

“Yes! Yes! Yes!”

“Say Yes!”

“Yes, Jaejoong, YES”

Jaejoong suppress a chuckle and ended up smiling shyly. “Yes, Yunho-shi. We can call it a date.”
Yunho stopped on his track and put his hand on Jaejoong’s shoulder. “Then there isn’t a need for the shi, call me Yunho.”

Jaejoong’s heart fluttered, butterflies filling his stomach. A blush found its way to his cheek as his lips stretched in an even wider smile.

“Ok, Yunho!”

The three fairies giggled a few feet away from him. He turned his head and found them hugging each other and jumping in the air.
