Who tries to pick up girls at the LIBRARY?

So I went to the library this afternoon in the hopes that my reserved copy of Twilight had come in in time to start the epic re-read with sortofbeautiful, and, according to their computer, it was, but it wasn't on the shelf where it was supposed to be, so the librarian said it was probably on its way to being re-shelved and I could probably get it tomorrow. I decided that I could sit around and wait for it to be shelved because I had time, so I grabbed The Bar Code Tattoo and started reading near the On-Hold shelf so I'd see if they put anything new up.

I had not been reading for ten minutes before a guy, clearly at least five years older than me, came over and asked where the comic books were. I pointed him there and less than a minute later he came and sat next to me with one. A littler weird, but I wasn't paying attention, I was reading. He said something like "They've got a lot of comic books here," and I said, "Mmf". I'm friendly, right? : ) He asked if I came here often, I said lately about four times a week, he said "Wow. How old are you?" At this point I was certain I was not just being paranoid because he sort of looked like my ex, he was definitely trying to chat me up, so I lied and said I was sixteen. I can pull that off, I have a baby face, and I hoped if he thought I wasn't legal it would deter him. WRONG! He said "Oh, you go to the high school? Do you like it?" I said "I can't wait to graduate" or something equally scintillating. I really just wanted to read. He said "Aha. Are you single?" Which is what people keep asking me lately. I must be very hot or very lonely looking. Or both.

I really just couldn't believe this was happening. Seriously, how does sitting by myself on a couch in the YA section, clearly engrossed in a YA novel say: "Please, talk to me!" Libraries are places for quiet and solitude!

Anyway, I said "I definitely don't come here to find dates," and he said "Oh..." and walked away pretty quickly. It's not that I like being the ice bitch that won't even give a guy a chance, this guy wasn't even trying! AND I WAS READING!

Ugh. I left pretty soon after that and ended up going to Borders, where I looked into the first 2 chapters of Twilight and then decided that actually they were pretty terrible and I didn't need to put myself through that until I could get a library copy to dissect slowly. *Sigh* I need a hobby.

Also in fifteen minutes I will have been awake for twenty-four hours. AGH!

twilight, books, boys
