A/N: I'm gonna' try something new and write from Kris's POV this chapter and in present tense! Idk why, but it seems to be my strong suit lately!!!!! Letters in blue are when Adam sings, orange for Kris, and purple for both. (SHOUT OUT TO MY GATORS IN BASKETBALL! SEC CHAMPIONSHIP, HERE WE COME XD) I know you're going to HATE HATE HATE me for the ending here, but trust me, you'll get an update tomorrow. I'm not that mean. Luv you all so much and hope to see you later when I'm out of my hole! lol Enjoy, for the most part! ;D
I can't believe this night is going the way it is.
Currently, my head is rested against Adam's in the middle of this slow dance that I swear started at least an hour ago. His arms are loosely draped around mine and his lips are in my ear whispering how much he loves me. I can feel his heart beat steadily against mine at almost the tempo of the beat of the music. He feels so warm and loving against me. I want to cry, but I can't. I want to show him how much I adore him, but the place isn't right for it.
I want to devour this perfectly wrapped up present pressed against my skin.
"Adam," I whisper against his soft silver suit, calling his attention, "you look so...sexy tonight."
His face turns a bit dark with lust, but it quickly changes back to his old calm look as soon as he remembers where he is. I smirk at that.
"You...you can't just say things like that," he replies in a husky tone. "Especially since I can't just act on it."
"Ben and James acted on their lust, so why can't we?"
"Because," Adam murmurs darkly millimeters from my ear, "I wouldn't be able to just settle with kisses and teasing."
I shiver at the thought. Now that I think about it, it's almost best that I shut up and not say anything.
But then where would be the fun in that?
"Well," I respond with a small moan, "you're going to have to, you sex god, because I can't help but point out the obvious tonight, like how strong your arms are and how your eyes make me want to bend you over the side of the stage to ravish you until you are screaming my name."
I feel Adam shakily exhale against my body and let out a long muffled groan into his shoulder. He's so enticing when he gets shaken up about just mere words that say. Gosh.
"I...........I need to go sing."
I cock my head to the side and let out a surprised chuckle. Why does he have to sing? What's that going to help with?
"I need to sing with you," he clarifies as his right arm travels down to wrap around my wrist. "Do you want to?"
Do I want to sing with the hottest guy in the world? Hmmm, let me see...
"Hell yeah I do."
With that, Adam and I are shooting through the crowd at top speed to the front like little kids do when a new toy store opens. I laugh breathlessly as Adam throws a dollar to the girl and plops me onto the stool waiting for me.
"What are we going to sing?" I ask loudly over the music. Adam just laughs and hugs me around my shoulders, the convincing boy he is, and grabs his mic blissfully as the song begins.
"Every night I walk the streets
never dreamed of what could happen.
Sad and so lonely
I saw in the mirror of my reflection
staring back at me.
But, will I ever find what I need?
But I'll wear that dress if you wear that tie
and baby we'll dance through the night
'cause no one's got what we've got going.
Happiness never held on to me
until you helped me see
that together we're just better off."
I look at Adam nervously as my part of the song comes up to find his two big blue eyes staring back at me with all the love and support in the world.
That is enough to make me feel good about it.
"Oh my heart's been tried
time and again.
I always thought that it was me but
I see now just how wrong I was.
No I haven't known you for a lifetime.
But somehow I've never been more sure that you're for me.
Baby please, don't!
Don't leave just come and dance with me
tonight!
I'll wear that dress if you wear the tie
and baby we'll dance through the night
'cause no one's got what we've got going.
Happiness never held on to me
until you helped me see
that together we're just better off!
We're just better off!
Don't be cruel to me.
Oh I've wanted more
but I've been wrong before.
So much learning to lose
but you're not a day too soon.
So say you feel the same and we'll never be lonely anymore."
Gosh, Adam looks stunning at his spot next to me. His eyes have never been bluer, I tell you. He looks like he's at his prime. You wouldn't believe that he had been through what he had in the past, I tell you.
"I'll wear that dress if you wear the tie
and baby we'll dance through the night
'cause no one's got what we've got going.
Happiness never held on to me
until you helped me see
that together we're just better off
I'll wear that dress if you wear that tie
and baby we'll dance through the night.
'Cause no one's got what we've got going.
Happiness never held on to me
until you helped me see
that together we're just better off!
We're just better off.
I'll wear that dress.
And I'll wear the tie.
And we'll just dance through the night.
Tonight!
Tonight!
Tonight."
The song ends, the crowd cheers, and Adam and I kiss. It's perfect, I tell you. Happiness all around. I can't help but lean into his touch. Suddenly, I feel Adam's hand once again clasp over my wrist and, before I can process it, we're running off the stage. I laugh as he shoves me against a wall and kisses my neck tenderly. It feels like...gawd.
"Adam," I moan and, heck, I can feel my body reacting to Adam so much right now. "Where did this come from?"
He licks a stripe down my neck with his tongue-tongue, I tell you!-and man, it's just about the sexiest thing ever, everyone looking at us as we make out.
I see now why Ben and James were so into it.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Why the hell didn't we go then? Adam was on stage, Crystal! Now we have to go through the crowd if we want to get him!"
"Shut up, Hailey. I know when we'll do it. You have to be more patient."
"I am. I'm just confused as to when-"
"Shhhh. Talking gets people into trouble."
"So does killing people."
"Shut up. I rather kill than get busted trying. Less productive that way."
"You are so weird."
"Welcome to my world, Hailey."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now, I have a raven haired six foot one boy pressed against me with his lips on mine in front of the whole entire Junior class without a freakin care in the world.
Sound good to ya'?
Well, it feels good, too.
Disrupting our kiss, Adam pulls back and smiles at me with his surprisingly perfect teeth. I blush deeply.
"I want to sing again."
"What's with you and singing lately?"
Adam laughs at me and then kisses my hand before leaving to go up back onto the stage. I stare after him dumbfounded.
"Hi everyone," he says happily into the mic, making me snort. "This song that I'm going to sing to you next is a personal fave of a lot of people, but to me, it means a bit more. It basically says all the things that I think about my love. You all know he is. C'mon, even teachers know who he is. But anyway, I'm gonna' sing the song. Enjoy."
I smile as the beginning music plays, feeling my eyes feel a little watery. Adam knows how much I love this song. He always has.
"You were Juliet and I was into you.
And I asked you out 'til you couldn't say no
And you finally felt it too.
I drove you down the boulevard.
That's where you took my heart
And you gave me yours instead.
And every day you find new ways to be beautiful.
You laugh at the garden that we grow in the lawn.
Drink coffee in the kitchen with no makeup on.
Sing all the wrong words to my favorite songs.
You're beautiful and that's beautiful.
You got lines on your face from sleepin' on me.
Call me at work 'cause you lost your key.
Go to buy a dog and you come home with three.
You're beautiful and that's beautiful to me.
Yeah.
You turn every head when you walk into a room.
But your kindness and your sweetened soul lingers like perfume.
Babe, you coulda gone with Romeo but you let him go.
And you stayed with me instead.
And every day I find new ways that make you beautiful.
You say, "honey give me roses, but don't buy red".
You need 46 pillows all over the bed.
Guess every punchline before it's said.
You're beautiful and that's beautiful.
What you doin' with a guy like me?
You're so cool and I'm high tea.
I don't deserve to have a guy as beautiful as you.
Yeah you laugh at the garden that we grow in the lawn.
Drink coffee in the kitchen with no makeup on.
Sing all the wrong words to my favorite songs.
You're beautiful and that's beautiful.
You got lines on your face from sleepin' on me.
Call me at work 'cause you lost your key.
You go to buy a dog and you come home with three.
You're beautiful and that's beautiful to me.
You're so beautiful and that's beautiful to me."
Tears falling down my face, I run up on stage and hug him tighter than ever before, kissing him with all the love in the world. The crowd is clapping loudly and things couldn't be better.
Then, it happens.
The crowd quiets with a giant gasp, and just like that, she appears next to us, her eyes wild. Then, Hailey appears and points a gun to Adam's head. It's too fast, too soon, too wrong. I gasp as Crystal yanks me away from Adam's grasp all too fast for me to protest and watch in horror as I hear faintly the gun click.
"STOP!"
Crystal and Hailey stop and, heck, everyone looks over to see where it came from. I gasp.
David.
He runs past the crowd pulls out a gun to point it at Crystal. A.J. then ran from where David appeared and points a gun at Hailey. I hear Crystal laugh devilishly in my ear and feel like spitting because...well...it's Crystal.
"Crystal, I will shoot if you even try-"
"Hailey," A.J. says quietly, "drop the gun. Please."
Hailey's hand quivers a bit, but she still doesn't move from her spot. I can see Adam slowly begin to get teary eyed and wish I could move, but I faintly can see a gun in Crystal's pocket and I have the feeling she would gladly use it if it were necessary.
"Crystal, let go of Kris."
Crystal snorts. "Yeah, like I'd do a stupid thing like that."
"Crystal," Hailey says nervously, "what do I do?"
Crystal shrugs. "Take him out to dinner. What do you think?"
David's gun makes a click and I feel Crystal's arm loosen ever so slightly around my waist. I then remember something.
She is carrying my daughter.
"David," I quickly yelp, "my baby."
David only smirks in reply. "You can end this, Crystal. Take your hands off Kris and we can all leave."
"Hailey," A.J. pleads, "you have the power to stop this. Lower your gun and you won't be in much trouble. It costs more to kill than to help plan a killing."
"Crystal, let go."
"Not a chance in hell!"
"Hailey, please, don't shoot Adam. He has a family, a baby on the way, three fourths of his life left to live."
"Crystal, don't make me shoot you."
"Go to hell, dude."
"Hailey, I beg of you, don't hurt him."
"I-"
Just before Hailey is about to lower the gun, Crystal lets go of me, pulls out the gun, smirks at David, and then shoots.
I gasp in shock.
My heart sinks.
I feel limp.
It hit Adam.
