In front of me is a copy of a slightly pompous and humourous critique, of sorts, of Proust ( Read more... )

Argh! That's horrible. It's particularly annoying when there's things underlined that aren't even that important.....

I'm so glad this annoys you too! Who are these evil people!? They must be stopped!! Some people go nuts and underline half the frigging book - what is the bloody point!? Although sometimes it is funny when you can tell someone has taken the same book out to write the same essay or answer the same question. Did I say funny? I still meant EVIL!! xxxxx

Ha, exactly! You can't go quoting entire pages of books! Wah! Why do people do this!
This morning on opening up a new book someone had underlined a paragraph in red biro. If that wasn't BAD ENOUGH they'd also done it so wonkily they'd basically crossed out the whole thing! Useful!?!
I'm narky about pencils too - especially on old paper, there isn't a hope in hell of erasing it without taking half the page with you!
Wah! Anger!!!! xxxxx

see i never did that, as i never revised/researched, but i understand your total annoyance...! grrr! ah, with older books, you'll just have to deal with not underlining it! is there a way of photocopying the page at all?

also, use a ruler!

I believe the common way to photocopy a page is to simply put the book in a photocopier. It is possible. xxxxx

i didn't mean in that way! :P

i meant without damaging the old book. as its basically light damage you know from the photocopier...

i feel totally thick now. x

Oh sorry I had no idea what you meant! I don't think they're valuable antiques or I'm sure they wouldn't let them anywhere near a bunch of reckless (or do I mean feckless?) students. I'm sure any risk of photocopying would be far outweighed by the damage some halfwit with a biro and a penchant for scribbling could well do. xxxxx

yeah, very true. i mean if it were in the big london library! in the really old section of the library, then they wouldn't let you use them!

i'd say both reckless and feckless, just to be careful!
how's it all going today lady? xxxx

Today? I'm sort of stressed but not stressed. Still got lots to do but not an insane amount, just finding it hard to concentrate. I've got a job application form that needs to be in at the end of next week which is on my mind too - this time next week though I'll be one chilled out motherfucker!
How's about you duck? xxxxx

I still want to shoot whoever invented the word "chillax"! Wah!
The job's for a summer position in the language+learning office at uni. It's all about admin and finance and I think I'm qualified and have the experience necessary, but I haven't applied for a job in yonks and I need a personal statement! I haven't written one of those since I applied for uni! Argh!
Any joy with the jobs? Still full steam ahead for Brighton? xxxxx

eeek! personal statement! i wrote one of those for my job application the other day, but i'm having to send a CV aswell to show my jobs/qualifications. i applied for another job at a mp3 player manufacturer in brighton - for admin/warehouse - two of my loves there! so hoping i get that one! but not much joy tho. i kinda decided no for brighton in the end, but i may go there, guy is gonna be down there now :D.

good lucky luck luck for the job application filling in and i'm sure you'll get it, experience, the subject you are doing! of course!
