I watched the first ep of Arrow last night.
I've been highly sceptical about this show (ie I bitched my ass off), but it was really, really good! Within a minute I'd turned to Dave and said, "This looks like Green Arrow: Year One". And it is. In both the look and the tone. It isn't afraid to be... harsh. Ollie's fighting style works for me, too; I am an absolute sucker for anything parkour influenced, with some capoeira thrown in too, on top of your usual MMA-influenced fisticuffs. My only regret is that I deleted it from TiVo!
I also watched the re-visited episode of The Great British Bake-Off. I love baking (and have previously dreamt about going on the show) but after watching this and seeing various comments from competitors this time round... no way!! I hadn't realised that the competitors sign over their recipes, so don't see any royalties from the tie-in books which have absolutely flown off the shelves. Or that they got very little travel expenses paid (so you're rather shafted if you live a long way from the filming venue). The whole filming process sounds even more horrendous than I thought it would be and there isn't even a prize at the end, other than the "experience". I suspect that the forthcoming Aussie version will include a decent prize...
Talking of Aussie versions, I should go catch up on Masterchef Australia!
