I am confident that if they DID exist, I would have seen evidence of such last weekend. But did I catch even a fleeting glimpse of a NH? Noooooo. Was I in Tally for approximately 42.3 hours? Yeeeees. Did I hear even one "sup" from anyone? Noooooo. Did I have a perfect tailgate location? Yeeeees.
Uh huh. They are figments of their own imaginations.
OK, anyway, who is putting nails and screws and such all over the streets of the Capitol City?? I had to call AAA to come to the tailgate festivities to change the Zoom-Zoom tire. To make things worse, the little spare is the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life. (Didn't that just sound like Tara?!?!) The rim is grotesque bright yellow, Yes kids, yellow. The car's cool factor dropped from a perfect 10 into negative digits. Greeeeat. Peeerfect for cruising after the game.
So the car and I went to the fake Super Wal-Mart at 8 a.m. Sunday. Uh huh. I need not say more. It was a lovely experience in just so many ways. The plugged tire made it to the Rest Area south of Ocala. That's where I sat for an hour to wait for AAA AGAIN. The one plug held, but the screw I had seen was still in there, which means there had been two!
The remainder of the trip home with the rubber donut on the yellow rim - at no more than 65 mph - was soooo special. There I was in that car, getting passed by EVERYTHING. And ooooh boy did I hate that. Horse trailers, RVs pulling cars, both parts of a double-wide mobile home, a migrant worker bus, etc. Thank God for XM Radio!!
I took it to the shop today and they called to tell me the bad news and the bad news. I need a new tire ... and they can't get one until AT LEAST Thursday. You don't even want to know how much those things cost. I wanted them to at least spray paint the stupid yellow rim, but they wouldn't. Geeeez.
My dad (AKA Papaw to some) will be making the trip back to Tally with me on Friday for the game. He's a lot of fun! We'll be driving his truck so we can take a bed frame and some other stuff to Keri. She also has a list of chores for him. If I don't get my friend's parking pass, I'm going to try to get the same space for tailgating again.
Things in Punta Gorda still look the same ... scrambled. I guess it will for quite a while. And I REALLY need to find a place to get my hair done.
That's about it for this update. I'm sure I must have SOMETHING else to do.
