Hey, Leviathan? I know it's kind of late, but I wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday.

I hope you don't mind, but I got you something. I don't know if you'll like it, though. I'm not really sure what you're interested in. *holds out a gift wrapped box a bit larger around and much thicker than a cd-case*

*looks a little surprised* Ah, thank you. You didn't have to get me anything. *reaches out to take the box, pulling the wrapping paper off almost carefully*

*shrugs a little in embarrassment* I figured I should, and I wanted to. I usually get presents for friends for their birthday, if I know when it is.

*Inside the paper is a black laquered box, the lid hinged on one side. When Leviathan opens it inside is a dark brown, shiny, round, block base, about the same diameter as a cd, only an inch or so thick. The top is pressure-sensitive and if she pushes down on it, the holographic, fluid-light sculpture will activate and project a three-dimensional, moving and changing, miniature aurora borealis in the air above the base. Pushing on it again will shut it off.*

*she opens the lid, pushing on the base curiously, then just watches the holograph for a while before pushing on it again and smiling softly* I love it. Thank you.

*X returned the smile* I'm glad you like it.

And I hope you had a good time on your birthday.

It's very lovely. It's been a long time since I've seen the aurora borealis.

*noncommital noise*

You've been to see the real thing? I don't get up there too often, but it's always a sight to see.

I've had a couple of bases up north, and I lived up there for a few years before coming to Reality Vanish.

I've never been stationed for an extended period of time up north. But I've visited more than a few times or been taking care of a mission in the northern reaches.

Must have been nice getting away from the cold. Even just a few days in the frozen areas makes me wish for a heater.

*shrugs* I was made to withstand extreme cold, but staying up there for more than a few months made me wish for higher temperatures.

Really? Um, if you don't mind my asking, what were you designed for originally?

Water purification. After the Eurasia crash and the Elf Wars, it was hard for the humans to survive, so I was made to help speed up the process of making the planet liveable again.

*nods* Lots of reploids were built to help the reclaimation effort after Eurasia. Did you enjoy it?

*slight shrug* It was alright, but I have to admit I didn't exactly want to do that for more than a few decades.
