Character Information
General
Canon Source: Tiger & Bunny
Canon Format: Animé/Show
Character's Name: Karina Lyle ("Blue Rose" as her hero alias)
Character's Age: 17
What form will your character's NV take? Karina's NV will take the form of the
bracelet-like communication device that the Heroes already wear and use in the anime in order to correspond with one another. Video posts are very simple as a holographic screen will be produced above the bracelet. Calls and vocal responses can be made by simply tapping on the bracelet itself when the word "CALL" blinks in light blue letters. The text function utilizes the holographic capabilities of the video function, where a full keyboard will materialize with interactive functions.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Karina is what is known as a NEXT. They appear to be normal humans but develop powers during their lifetime. The powers can be anything ranging from serious and dangerous (like memory manipulation) to downright silly (being able to stretch your skin to a certain length) and some can even have conditions attached (like having a five minute period where your physical strength is increased).
Karina's NEXT power is ice generation and manipulation. Usually she uses the guns on her costume to help channel and use her ice as projectiles, however she is more than capable of using her abilities without the use of them. Not only does she use them as projectiles, but can use her ice to help propel her forward, whether
skating on a rapidly generating strip of ice or riding a snowmobile-like vehicle over ice.
Like most NEXT, when Karina's power activate, she gains a blue glowing aura around her and her eyes turn a bright, glowing blue.
Weapons: The only thing that might classify as a weapon on Karina's person are the guns on her hero unform (Located on the
holster on her thighs) that she uses to channel her ice powers.

Episode Synopsizes
There hasn't been too much canonically revealed about Karina's life prior to the start of the anime canonically speaking. From the nationality of her name and the setting of Sternbild City being in the US, it can be speculated that she was born and raised in the very City instead of having immigrated and settled like so many others. Specific and important dates such as when she developed her NEXT powers and signed on with a sponsor company to be a hero haven't been revealed. However, due to her ranking on HeroTV and popularity in general, as well as her parents and even teachers being (somewhat) understanding of her heroic job, it can be said that Karina has been in the business for a fairly good amount of time.
Other than her hero efforts and endeavours, Karina's life doesn't seem at all different to many other kids her age. Considering that she still lives with her parents and attends a normal high school (unlike a specific one that is geared towards becoming a hero), and doesn't seem to have had suffered from a lot of negative, ill emotions that a lot of other NEXT experience in their lives when their power manifests, her personal history could be passable as normal.
Point in Canon: Post-Episode 14; "Love is Blind"
The last great endeavour that Karina faced and was showcased was having a joint performance and training Kotetsu (Wild Tiger) and Barnaby to dance with her as part of a promotion both their companies came up with. During that time, Karina was faced with the possibility of having feelings for Kotetsu (of which he was completely oblivious to) and was confused by whether she did indeed love him or not after receiving a gift of sorts; a new towel after Kotetsu had ruined her old one. Although by the end of the episode, she was still somewhat conflicted with her emotions, but had realized how protective and how much she treasured that towel after a crossdressing NEXT thief had stolen the bag that it was in and that Kotetsu and Barnaby had tried so hard to get back.
((I know I'm taking her from post this episode, but I'd like very much to have Karina arrive wearing her Blue Rose outfit if at all possible. Like as if she had arrested a criminal in between episodes 14 and 15.))
Character Personality: Personality-wise, Karina Lyle is a normal teenage girl living with a rather abnormal lifestyle. She's stubborn, goal-driven and ambitious, craving for independence, friendly and even the littlest bit of a hopeless romantic (when it comes to the romance of others however). But underneath, she's more complex than most girls, mostly due to living a double life as both Karina and Blue Rose.
For starters, the hero job wasn't exactly Karina's dream job. Although she's a NEXTY with plenty of potential power and potential for good, she hadn't taken the hero lifestyle by choice or because it was the right thing to do like some of the other heroes had. No, instead of choosing to do the more honourable thing, Karina's involvement in being a hero is more related to her young inexperience, ambitions and selfishness; she had only taken the job as a means to an end in establishing a singing career, the true path that she wanted to take. Taken from this point in time, she is less selfish when it concerns her duty as a hero as she realized what it truly meant to be a hero and takes the job more seriously than at first.
Another factor would be her want for independence. As a young woman, Karina is very independent already, making choices and decisions for herself regardless of the potential negative outcomes. She's not exactly impulsive with her decisions and she will sit and think things through before enacting on them. But often times it's Karina that makes the decision and her alone. Others are more than willing to talk to her about the subjects, but the girl won't exactly be too open or free about others' opinions. At least not immediately. When she became disillusioned on being a hero close to the beginning of the series, it took not only strong words from Kotetsu to get her back, but a dire situation in which, had she not intervened, would have had fatalities for the Heroes. That said, she might not be too willing to accept advice and if she does, it's usually not an immediate decision.
She is mostly that way because, as one of her school friends had put it, Karina likes to lie to herself. Without the persona of Blue Rose around, she's not exactly the best actress out there as herself. She often puts up façades and acts differently around others depending on the situation. She's a little guarded this way, keeping her internal thoughts, opinions and feelings under wraps (even if it's still written on her face). This gives her a rather chilly attitude to some people, coming off as abrasive and shooting off callous remarks (mostly at her favourite target, Kotetsu). This aspect of her personality has matured and died down some, however, when she becomes confused about her emotions and conflicted, it's certainly far easier for her to lash out than comes to grips and accept what she feels.
Beneath her chilly exterior isn't something that's all bad though. Karina is friendly; she's not rude or abrasive to everyone she meets. She does have friends outside of the little group of Heroes and she does enjoy spending time with them when she can and she's not as snarky to all of the Heroes either. She actively enjoys their company and conversing with them, although there are some times when Karina will be the first to remind them that they are not just friends, but rivals in the world of HeroTV as well. However, she isn't all bad and definitely takes interest in their lives like a normal, nosy teen girl would be. And in many cases, she's helpful too. Although she isn't the best to receive advice from, Karina will gladly give some, especially concerning anything involving her co-workers' love-lives, even if the advice she gives falls flat. Love is something that Karina takes an interest in, but she gets confused by it as well, however, she does fantasize about her own romance (which only causes her to walk around with a cold shoulder when it doesn't come true).
Under her Blue Rose persona, Karina isn't that drastically different. Having combated her conflicts with the hero lifestyle earlier, she has been able to embrace the hero job more fully with more confidence. Before she took it seriously, she would often run away from criminals before apprehending them, which lead to the birth of her so-called 'Cutie Escape'. So far and since she has been back as Blue Rose, she no longer runs away from criminals or fears her safety as much anymore (although if she flinches at all while someone is shooting at her, HeroTV still calls it her Cutie Escape). Given Karina's somewhat headstrong personality, Blue Rose isn't that much different, but does act with a less callous tone than her civilian persona, able to speak confidently and clearly as well as able to reassure civilians of their safety.
Character Plans: I think it would be quite interesting to see Karina involved in a world where practically everyone is a NEXT by her world's standards. As for concrete plans, she'd finish and attend school like the smart girl that she is, but I'm sure she'd try and boost her singing career by finding some place that's not just a bar (like a relatively normal and stable job that's not heroism). Other than that, it's a 'come what may' plan and considering that she'll be arriving with her hero outfit on, she'll probably still want to get her hands dirty in apprehending criminals and helping others.
