On Sunday I checked out the encore presentation of Fringe. Fox's new "Sci-fi" drama they want you to believe it's the X-Files. Sure some of the characters are FBI agents who investigate abnormal cases but that's about it. While X-Files had its own kind of gritty style, at least in the first couple season, Fringe is more like a MTV show. Flashy, no substance.
Another point that makes Fringe laughably annoying is the idea that everything supernatural CAN be explained with science. Example from the show:
FBI Lady: “We need to know what that man saw."
Mad Scientist: "Ok, no problem. Get naked, take some LSD and hop in this tank of water. Then when you are tripping out your brainwaves will be the same as his and you'll enter his mind."
FBI Lady: "Sure thing!"
Feels like B-movie science from the 50's and 60's.
There’s more I dislike about Fringe but I need to go to work.
