SO FAR THIS MONTH THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE AT THE FAIRBANKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IS 6.6 DEGREES ABOVE ZERO...WHICH IS NEARLY 9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. MONTH TO DATE...IT TIES WITH 1920 AS THE 17TH WARMEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD. WHAT IS MORE SPECTACULAR IS THE SIGNIFICANT CHANGE FROM JANUARY 2012...WHICH WAS THE COLDEST SINCE 1971. Wow! This past winter seems to have been very volatile and bipolar by Alaska standards haha. You're right, it is kind of difficult to determine what is considered "normal" by how much the temperatures and snow levels swing around so much!
