[closed to friends and family] grieving

It's a blow.

A terrible one.

After Saetan's loss, she returned to the room where she's always been able to find Armand, and it was empty. Not just...empty like he'd gone out to the other house, or stepped out, but empty, really empty. And she knows. In truth, how could she expect...she always knew it wouldn't last. It never does. (No, she thought it would. She thought it really would.)

She goes back to her room and finds the things she got from him, little things, and lays them out on the bed, but it's too much. She puts them back away, and sits on the bed, staring at the window.

She can see the tree; the tree she used to climb, that he came up after her, the tree where she was sitting when he and Chris told her they could be together. She can see the lake where they went wading. The woods where they lived in a house.

She doesn't cry. Karla doesn't cry. She is an ice-witch and does not cry, not even a little. Just stares out into the distance, the door closed, and is very quiet, and very still, and very, very sad.

Armand was the first man she let herself love, the first she let herself have sex with. The first she could have seen spending her life with. And now he's gone, like he was never here at all.

She'll have to tell the others. But not now. Just not now.
