Eerily familiar

Do you ever have the odd sensation of having stepped into an alternate universe, one where things are almost, but not quite the same? Friends and acquaintances, this very morning I have made such a journey, into a spooky world that was eerily familiar. After having been most rudely awoken (in a manner not fit to be described) I powered on my trusty computer, to see what had happened in the world of goings-on while I lay aslumber. Now, good folk, there was some small business of mine to which I intended to attend, involving the sale of several knick-knacks and curios on that vast market known as Ebay, so it was to that place I pointed my electronic compatriot. Having signed in, at the place just previously named, I noticed something seemed askew. Rather than telling me that two of my items needed to be shipped out post haste, I was informed that it was necessary to post them. My sense of vertigo and displacement deepened, for when checking my last unsold article (the knack of the knick-knacks, if you will) I discovered a curious arcane marking below it. Where always before the price I had set upon my salable particulars was a clear value of American Dollars, now this figure was joined by a menacing curved "L". A moment of panic gripped me, and I came to the realization that I had in-fact crossed over to an alternate realm of existence, a puzzling domain similar to, yet quite distinct from, our own. This was the realm of Ebay UK!
