Room 218, Tuesday Afternoon

Feb 14, 2012 16:40

It was Valentine's Day and so Karla was celebrating the best way she knew how--a giant box of expensive chocolates and a brand-new trashy romance novel. There might be other, more traditional celebrations later in the evening, but Karla's first introduction to the holiday was through chocolate and she wasn't about to give up such an amazing custom ( Read more... )

"Karla?" Tara asked from the doorway. "I have a ques -- ooh, you have candy."

She'd wanted to talk-slash-brag about the Rebecca thing, but she was easily distracted.

[OOC: SP is my favorite.]

"Kiss kiss, Tara!" Karla said, putting her book down. "And Happy Valentine's Day!" She held the box of chocolates out enticingly, "I'll be happy to share," she added.

Because Tara needed to be coaxed, yes.

"Come on in?"

"Happy Valentine's Day!" Tara echoed, going in and plucking a raspberry-centered chocolate from the box. She thanked Karla through a full mouth, then lowered her voice before speaking again.

"So, uh ... mind a little girl talk?"

Karla's eyes lit up at that. "I loooove girl talk," she assured Tara, moving over so Tara could have plenty of space on the bed to sit down. The door closed itself, so no one wandering past the hallway would be able to listen in, and she gave Tara an expectant grin.

"Shaaaaare," she said.

Tara giggled behind her hand, feeling far girlier than she normally did. "Okay, so ... y'know, I've been single for a while, right? So ... I went to the three minutes dates thing at the bar Sunday. M-mostly for something to do, right? And..."

And she needed another chocolate before she could go on.

Karla was practically shoving chocolates at her. "...Aaaand?" she said, grabbing one for herself and devouring it like she would at a particularly suspenseful point in her book. "You met someone?"

"Well, that's the thing," Tara said, sounding the tiniest bit conflicted as she took a caramel. "I mean, I kind of ..."

There was no kind of about it, Tara. "I mean, I did go home with somebody. A girl." Because that point needed clarification. "And, you know, it was fun, but ... um. I .. maybe don't know where it's going?"

She'd gone to breakfast with Rebecca. She was hot, but they weren't exactly soulmates.

"A girl?" Karla squeed. Forgive her, Tara, she'd get to your main point eventually. But, "Eeee! A girl! Is she nice?" AHAHAHA, NO, KARLA. "Pretty? Fun?"

"Um .... do you know Rebecca?"

So, no, yes, and it depended?

At the other female's name, Karla's expression went through a few interesting contortions as she answered her own questions. A nose wrinkle for nice. A considering nod for pretty. And a thoughtful question over fun.

"I've met her," she said, though Tara had probably figured that much out. "I didn't know she liked females, though."

And that was a hasty chocolate into her mouth before she said something helpful like, 'I guess she just likes anything that has a pulse.'

Though she did ask around a mouth full of chocolate, "She was nice to you, though?" Because if she hadn't been--!

"Well, yeah," Tara conceded, snickering just a little at the expressions on Karla's face. "And, um, she says she doesn't really want a relationship right now either. So I guess we just --- go on with our lives?"

That seemed weird.

Karla shrugged. "There's nothing wrong with just being occasional lovers," she pointed out. "I mean, so long as both of you agree that's all this is."

Witches in Kaeleer did it all the time. Even the Consort was a paid lover; nothing more than a sexual convenience in some Courts.

"How do you feel about it?" she added. "You seem...unsettled?"

Tara frowned, leaned back against her palms.

"I'm just not really an occasional lover type, I guess?" she said. "It's like ... my hormones, um, started thinking for me for a couple hours. Good, good hours, but -- it wasn't like me at all. I mean, Kennedy was practically climbing the walls before we ... you know. That's why it's weirding me out."

Overshare? Maybe. But she wanted Karla to understand.

Karla nodded, because she did get it. "You're not one to share sex without love," she said softly. "And, for this, there's not just no love, there's not even the likelihood of it developing later. Am I about right?"

She reached for Tara's hand, planning on offering a comforting squeeze.

Tara was not about to turn down that hand squeeze, even though any physical contact felt a little risky this week. (And Karla ... Karla was very pretty.)

"You're exactly right," she said, then got distracted. "... you should have another girlkissy party, before this wears off."

"Ooooh," Karla said, going dreamy and wistful at the idea of it. "There are so many pretty girls to kiss here, too."

A little spin the bottle, maybe some truth or dare...

"That's a really bad idea, you know." By which Karla meant awesome.
