SaDiablo Hall, Dhemlan, Kaeleer

Karla was Not Best Pleased. Not only was Jaenelle gone to Little Terreille-again!-but she’d left a new housemate in her absence. Not the tiny Sceltie and the tiny Arcerian kindred she’d found (Karla was half in love with Kaelas already), but the stupidly-huge Eyrien warrior Jaenelle was now calling her brother. Brother!

“Karla,” Saetan said as they stood in his study, his carefully neutral tone letting her know they were sticking to Protocol, “may I introduce you to Lucivar, Jaenelle’s brother and my son, recently of Terreille. Lucivar, I have the honor of presenting Karla, Jaenelle’s best friend and sister among Sisters.” The same part of her that thrilled to be introduced as Jaenelle’s sister was fairly put out to hear Lucivar introduced by the same caliber relationship, especially since hers was an honorary title and his was not. Jaenelle didn’t have to acknowledge the relationship, since Saetan was her adopted father, but if she was, then it meant that she considered him family.

Still, he was family, which meant that Karla would play nice. “Prince,” she murmured, curtseying the precise degree owed to a Warlord Prince whose Jewels outranked hers. She’d noticed the Ebon-Gray Jewels around his neck before she’d even noticed his wings.

“Lady,” Lucivar rumbled, giving her an insolent look and the barest of nods. Karla fumed a bit; granted he was a Warlord Prince and he did outrank her right now as she was too young to set up a Court, it wasn’t fair to make her play by Protocol if he wasn’t. Arrogant prick.

Unsurprisingly, Saetan caught all of the implications of this little interplay, though he only said, “Karla comes from the Territory Glacia, here in Kaeleer. She met Jaenelle during one of her peregrinations when they were both six, I believe.”

The words seemed inane, his tone mild, and yet it had a dramatic effect. There was clearly something going on that Karla wasn’t privy to. Whether the message was encoded in Saetan’s words or sent on a spear-thread between them, Lucivar’s stance changed considerably. He dropped the insolence, turning a sharp and interested gaze upon her and gave a small half-bow. Had he left it there (in the future, Karla would come to realize that Lucivar was constitutionally incapable of ‘leaving it there’), things might have gone differently. Instead, however, his interested expression turned critical and he announced, “You’re too skinny. You need to eat more. Build up some muscle, too.”

Saetan looked like he was trying hard not to facepalm. Karla took her first free hit from Arthur and let out an outraged, “What?!”

“It’s true,” Lucivar retorted, crossing his arms over his chest and flaring his wings at her. “I could break you in half without even trying.”

“Lucivar-” Satan said, sounding tired.

“You lay a finger on me and I’ll wear your balls for earrings!” Karla shrilled, stomping up a few stairs made of air so she could glare directly in his eyes.

“Karla, language-”

“Go near my cock, little witch, and I’ll shatter every bone in your hand,” Lucivar snapped. He leaned in to glare, standing almost nose-to-nose with Karla.

“Children-”

“I wouldn’t touch your cock unless it’s to leave you pissing blood for a week!”

“THAT IS ENOUGH!!!” Saetan roared, startling the both of them. The windows rattled in their frames, and both Karla and Lucivar took a step backwards. Unfortunately, Karla was still standing on her air platform, so when she took the involuntary step, she ended up tumbling into Lucivar. It was like falling into a brick wall-hard and unyielding. He did catch her, however, wrapping an arm like an iron bar around her midsection.

“We can work on your balance, too,” he said in an undertone. Karla glared up at him, ready to respond-

-A moment later and they were both tossed out of the study by a wave of Black power. Karla landed on Lucivar, doing her level best to fall with something bony first. She had the pleasure of hearing him wheeze as she came down-hard-on his abdomen with her elbows. “Now look what you did,” she accused, rolling off of him before he could shove her.

“Me? I just stated facts!”

“I’ll give you facts!” Karla said, working up to full volume. “The fact is, you’re an absolute prick!”

“Damn right I am!”

“I’ll damn you all right! Damn you right to Hell!”

It was a very long afternoon for everyone else in the Hall.
