There was some additional muttering and then she called, "All right, come in." Her voice was less hoarse, but still grumpy. "And I might let you live if you brought coffee. Or if you promise to keep your voice down."

He did have coffee though, two nice, hot, caffeinated coffees, and offered one the cups.
"So, I guess I don't need to ask how you're feeling," he said, quietly.
