The Gardens of SaDiablo Hall, Thursday Evening (Fandom Time)

Jun 14, 2012 20:43

Karla had been packing for her move to Haven, to spend a few months being an unofficial Queen to a village full of refugee Black Widows. Had been, however, because 'packing' apparently meant 'getting chased of her chambers by Helene and several other maids while they packed because no guest leaving SaDiablo Hall would ever be seen unpacking the ( Read more... )

Jack was at loose ends that day after finishing a few arrangements for the club, and what better way to fill the time than a few friendly phone calls?

So he dialed Kaeleer, planning to feign annoyance Karla was gone before he'd gotten to town.

"JACK!" Hello, Jack. Have some barely restrained hysteria, would you? "Jack! Did you see what Emma sent us?"

There were a chorus of 'Hello, Jack!' from the coven, as well as a lot more laughter.

You had only Emma to blame, Jack.

"She didn't show me," Jack said suspiciously. "Is it dirty Japanese things? I did see those."

He grinned at the chorus from the background. "Tell them hi back, whoever they are."

"It's the coven," Karla said, waving a hand. "Jaenelle and the rest of our friends. You might have met them the last time you were here?"

Or maybe not. Hard to say. They certainly knew a lot about him, but that's because Karla liked to gossip about Emma and Jack and how wonderful they were together.

Shut up they were!

"Not Japanese," she continued, giggling. "Chocolate, And according to the packaging, cream-filled."

"I have," Jack confirmed. "It's just ... been a while."

He'd had a long few years.

Still, he wasn't so decrepit that he didn't recognize what Karla was alluding to. "The ... phallic chocolates. Those were foul," he protested. "The real thing's so much nicer."

"Well, I'm not going to argue about the real thing being better," Karla objected with a laugh, "but calling them foul? Hardly fair! They're quality dark chocolate!"

She shouldn't have kept talking, but her mouth didn't always listen to her brain. "Cock-snob."

"Cock-snob?" Jack repeated, laughing incredulously.

"Well, this is the first time anyone's ever accused me of being too discriminating. I suppose it could almost be a compliment. Anyhow, I didn't try the chocolate, but I suppose I'm pleased for the less-snobbish among us that it was tasty."

"I'll have you know," Karla said, tossing her hair over her shoulder, "I just happen to trust Emma. So I have no problems enjoying any cock she happens to pass along my way."

Best. Conversation. Ever.

"I see." A long pause. "Should I keep that in mind if I visit you?"

"Only if you can convince Warren to share," Karla said without missing a beat.

In large part, to the tutelage that Jack had overseen himself. So, really, he had no one else but himself to blame. Well, also Emma, but when wasn't Emma to blame somehow?

"I'd happily take Warren on, but I don't think he's the least bit interested," Jack said, just as quickly. "So sad, Karla. We'll have to wait for the triplets and Nommy and live vicariously through them."

"Oh, Warren's had just as many male lovers as I," Karla retorted airily. "So it's always possible."

That brought the commotion in the coven do a dead halt. Karla cackled at their expressions.

"It's a Fandom thing," she told them. "Hush."

"It doesn't count if you're out of your mind," Jack told her. "... also, who?"

Good gossip was good gossip, even if it was something you'd likely known at one point and forgotten.

"Once with me," Karla confided, because poor Warren didn't get harassed enough, obviously, "and once with Tony Stark during one of those weekends. That was the same weekend he tried to assassinate me for a suitcase full of sushi."

Suitcase sushi. Her boyfriend had poisoned her for suitcase sushi.

"Oh, was the sushi assassination weekend the one where I was a dread chylde of the nyghte?"

You could hear the darque spelling, yes.

"... and I have to say, I'm a bit surprised you're that comfortable as a boy now? Good for you both, though."

"And I was the missing Skywalker daughter, raised in a convent and then forced out into the world, all unprepared." She couldn't roll her eyes hard enough at all that.

"I'm...getting there," she admitted. "I'm not screaming or crying anymore and with him...Warren made me feel the same, just with a, err, different way of showing it. I still vastly prefer when we're both females, though. Mmmm."
