Winsol had been going on now for several days. The family had just decamped from SaDiablo Hall in Dhemlan back home to Glacia to continue the festivities in their own home. There would be several more days of formal events, but this evening was just for family and close friends (specifically friends close enough to be family). The children were ( Read more... )

Momoko was here and was totally not tired after chasing one of the kids in a game of "Tag". Nope.

She'd been running with a LOT of them in a game of "get out of the kitchens with as many fresh baked cookies as we can before Ermengarde catches us and skins us alive".

That said, she was wandering around with a few warm cookies left (she'd given most of them away to the not-so-brave kids) and trying not to look smug.

Karla sighed, folding her arms and trying to look stern. "Momokoooo," she said, warningly. "You haven't been stealing Ermengarde's cookies, have you?"

"Meeeee?" This was Momoko's innocent face! Totally innocent!

It would have been more believable if there hadn't been crumbs scattered about.

"Yoooooooooou," Karla said, now tapping her foot. "Let me be more specific. You haven't been stealing Ermengarde's cookies and not sharing with me, have you?"

Momoko straightened slightly, trying reeeeeeaaaallly hard to keep the grin off her face. "To admit or deny that would totally incriminate me and possibly several nieces and a nephew or two." And she wasn't sure if that cat was in on it or not, but that pitcher of cream falling over was timed PERFECTLY.

Housecats were, to the best of their knowledge, just cats, but that cat in particular was Cora's and Nyles was grinning awfully broadly.

"Momoko! Not sharing holiday cookies with the Queen is treason!"

According to the laws she was not actually allowed to pass..

"You can't prove anything! Who finked? I demand a jury of my peers!" Find some Japanese magical girls, Karla. "I regret nothing! Especially the apple ones."

"You stole the apple ones?!" Karla whined. Mother Night, it was like high school all over again. "Those are my third favorite!"

"They're my second." So nyah! "And so warm and soft when fresh out of the oven!"

She leaned in to add in a soft whisper: "I believe a certain winged bandit made off with a skirt full of cocoa dusted ones, by the way. Apologize to the laundry girls for me?"

"You had better be talking about Kayla, because if I find out it's Warren, I'm going to be SO UPSET!" Karla declared, before giving up the entire game by grinning and holding her arms out for a hug.

"If Warren's wearing skirts now, I totally need pictures." Momoko laughed and hugged her back. "Happy Winsol! It's a beautiful party; it's been sooooo long since we've all been together like this."

"For the cocoa-dusted ones, Warren would do more than simply wear a skirt," Karla snorted. "He likes to dunk them into his Americanos. He calls the resulting beverage Mochamericanos and is very proud of himself for it."

"Ew. That's a horrible thing to do to cocoa." Momoko made the usual face when confronted with the idea of coffee. "Please don't let him tell Jaime about them or he'll try to convert me to your evil coffee ways." Luckily most coffee places had decent teas. And lots of baked goods.
