Triela didn't have a key, of course, but she did have an invite. She knocked firmly on the door, the stepped back, waiting in a sort of at-attention stance for someone to let her in.

She rather suspected that she wouldn't get much more time, and despite her uncaring attitude, she did want to spend it with her friends.

Karla opened the door and gave Triela a messy salute. Then laughed and gave her a hug instead. "Get in here," she said. "Raven stole my spot on the cushions, I need help getting it back."

That hug got returned, and when Triela let go she was smiling slightly. "Somehow I suspect that you were hogging space for three people."

"Rude," Karla sniffed, which was not actually a denial. "I was taking up as much space as I needed to for all of my awesomeness."

So, yeah, three people was right.

"I'll have you know that I'm unfailingly courteous." Not quite the same thing as polite.

"When I want to be."

"Why am I never on the other side of that unfailing courtesy?" Karla pouted, tugging on Triela's hand to lead her inside. "I taught you how to make mud pies and everything!"

"I'm always courteous with you," Triela said with a calm smile as she followed Karla into the suite. "That doesn't mean that I don't tell you the truth."

"Well why is the truth always so unflattering?" Karla sulked. "I'm so charming!"

"I understand why people think so when they first meet you," Triela acknowledged, trying to bury a smirk.

"Damn right, I'm--heeeeeeeeeeey!" Karla protested. "You know, as long as I'm here, this is a Glacian embassy." No it wasn't. "You're not allowed to insult a Queen in her own Territory, you know! It's against the law!"

And again, no it wasn't.

"Well, I'm sure that your prisons are overflowing and your executioners all have RSIs," Triela smirked. "I've met some of the people you keep around."

"Of course you have," Karla sniffed. "You went to high school with some of the worst repeat offenders."

She was one of the worst repeat offenders!

Triela gasped. "You mean all of our old friends are imprisoned in your dungeon, or beheaded by your executioners for disrespecting you?" Oh noes!

"It's been a really rough year," Karla declared tragically. "Momoko was the last to go, but even she fell prey to being a brat." She glared at Triela. "Funny, they all said that it was your influence before they went, too."

"My influence?" Triela pondered that. "Well, maybe. But I should remind you that when I first arrived at the island, I didn't really know how to tease or banter."

She quirked an eyebrow, not feeling the need to say it. I learned it from you.

Karla's answering grin said it quite loudly for her.

"Of all the things I've done on this island, that's one of the things I'm most proud of," Karla said, resting her head on Triela's shoulder.

They'd made her a soldier. Somewhere down the line, she'd learned how to be a good big sister. But it was Fandom that had taught Triela how to be a friend.
